captured from tsikot "automotive news" page:

"While Mitsubishi just claimed its first profitable quarter in four years, its president, Osamu Masuko, says the company will now go after the potentially huge profit in untapped Asian markets with a super-affordable vehicle. If it happens, Mitsubishi would join a score of other companies with the same goal.

Nikkei Business Daily speculates the car would sell for around $8,500 and could possibly be based on the Colt, seen above.

If the company’s efforts to tap into that market are succesful, Mitsubishi can plan to see many more profitable quarters."

$8,500 = Php399,500.... ball park number... kaya lang, asa pa.

Tidbit: The colt rear seats only fold and tumble. The colt plus rear seats fold down flat/flush with the rear compartment (ala jazz).

Think of it this way... the Colt Plus is Hitting 2 birds with one stone. Why settle for a hatchback that can give room of a typical hatchback when u can have a colt plus hatchback that can give room of a typical Lancer sedan? Sure it may look like a bloated fish in some angles but in this age where value for money instead of excessive power is of the essence, i think it is wise that the colt plus comes here- instead of the regular colt.

if u would recall back in 2004 when mitsubishi thailand was about to decide to build either the colt or grandis... they chose the grandis since it was thailand's unchartered territory and building the colt will mean the jazz and echo/yaris eating up their potential market! that left the asean region one less model in the b-segment- or there never was!

the philippines is lucky because of taiwan! and its common LHD pattern.
and what we see in taiwan is what we get for us- the 4G18 + CVT may not be a gem but it should be good to pull the colt plus out of being a slowpoke. unfortunately- no mivec there! yes, don't expect the jazz's magic seats since the jaz has its fuel tank located under the font seat- the colt plus has it the traditional way.

and the colt must come here before the arrival of the 2008 Lancer! and as quickly as possible since the colt family is now on its mid-life cycle!
