Most cars use an IACV (Intake Air Control Valve aka servo) that keeps your idle stable with or without load (aircon, power steering, lights, etc). The Itlog's servo is not as bullet proof as JDM servos (or later designs like the Pizza) and when they fail the engine can't compensate for the additional load and the idle revs will drop. If you're lucky all you'll need are replacement plastic gears. If you're not replacement servos are not cheap.

The bypass commonly uses a Toyota idle up that is electrically connected to the compressor switch. The switch opens and closes an air valve that feeds additional air into the intake which increases revs when needed. This workaround only compensates for aircon load. It does not compensate for power steering, lights or AT in D while waiting at the stoplight.

Circuit kasi is electronic. Same mechanism sa mga L300 and Hyundai Grace.

Ang servo po ay repairable with repair kits available in most auto parts (850K Php). An IAC has a mechanical and electronic parts. This is only need to be replaced if it is burned. Why?--if servo is not responding electronically, you can always replace the HAL circuit; If gears are broken, repair kits is what you need.

    IAC vs Toyota idle-up convert:

The idle-up is a vacuum controlled parts in which will open if being sucked. IAC is controlled by the ECU. Idle should be lean mix and rich mix in certain rpm. With IAC working, fuel efficiency is achieved. For idle-ups, similar function with IAC but the ECU has no control over it. Idle-ups are dependent in vacuum pressure. Idle-up wil make your car idle wonderfully, but how about during acceleration?

I do not say idle-ups is useless, I just do not recommend it. You have a problem with your servo, have it fixed! If they say it's impossible to fix, go to another shop... IAC servo motor is 1K PhP. Repair kit (850 PhP) includes all the gears with gaskets. San mo dadalhin yung lumang servo? Bawat pyesa nun ay may halaga.

    Ngayon... Convert ka na nga!
