August 3rd, 2009 06:47 PM #125We went to Diamond Motors QAve kanina and fortunately we saw a unit in the flesh, yung GLX pa.
For me, it was okay. Nothing much special except for a pretty spacious interior (for the back seat, at least) and it was just right for the front passenger seat. Features were nice in such a way na it's not too bare, and kung tutuusin hindi talaga siya mukhang low-end.
I sat in the driver's seat na rin to have a feel of the car as I'll be driving na next year. Though medyo uncomfortable sa laps dahil I'm kinda huge and medyo nahirapan ako sumakay sa driver's seat, when I positioned myself properly and comfortably I was delighted to have a nice view na kita ko talaga yung dulo ng hood. I was concerned about that sa Civic namin and I was glad na sa Lancer, I won't have that kind of problem.
For my dad, he said pwede na, mapagtiyatiyagaan, nothing special. He thinks naman that the price was worth it. We basically had the same opinion and we're pleased with the car naman.
But if my mom's office gives us a car loan of 700k, we're going for the Adventure GLX. And if 800k, we're going for the Strada GL. Pero that's kinda impossible so we're sticking with the Lancer.
It's a nice car naman, and I'd recommend it. Go get the GLS variant if you're very much into the looks in the interior.

August 6th, 2009 02:12 AM #127I am planning to buy a new car. The choices are hyundai accent and lancer gls. after reading all your threads, i am fairly conviced that lancer glx is the way to go. considering the price and performance. yung kuya ko meron accent na taxi, inde ako satisfied, specially the fuel consumption. yun nga lang nagpapakipot pa yung ahente ko sa lancer magbigay ng discount.
please, paki refer naman ako sa lancer agent na madali kausap.
thanks

August 6th, 2009 04:33 AM #128Hi! I just wanted to share my insights on my new car. I just got my 2009 lancer ex gls cvt 2.0 AT lst july 31 (fri). I happen to be driving before a 2006 mazda3 1.6 AT & also a 2008 honda civic 1.8 AT so these are the only ones i can give comparissons to (among its direct competitor).
I did a lot of thinking when i was told that the new Lancer will be coming directly & is manufactured in Tokyo, Japan (which also states in my car manual) so maybe i thought i'd give it a shot....and so here is my testimony...
Interior: Definitely goes to the mazda for me. everything just looks so perfectly fit and modern. The Civic has a nicer dashboard though. The Lancer is not that great looking (wooden trims, obviously light plastic materials, aircon knob is embarassing, old fashioned window buttons, no front ceiling lamps, cheap fabric on all doors & console, gear knob looks like crap)
Ride/comfort: it go with my lancer (or maybe since its barely a week old). suspensions & shocks is way better than the mazda. Civic is always good.
Performance & handling: i'd still give it to my lancer. It goes where you want it to go in a snap. With the civic, with speeds of 120+ kph (where i did on the north expressway) moving from one lane to the next literally lifted my ass in fright! The mazda doesnt perform really well IMHO.
Brakes: Since i got the one with the 4 disc brakes, id give it to the Lancer. Very smooth brakes. Compared to the Civic (sucks big time!) and the Mazda (who needs breaking power with a slow car).
Looks: it give it to the Lancer & Mazda. I just love looking at the lancer at the front right or front left of it. Looks like a mean shark. (just like the '96 gallant). I love how the designers have created both cars. Both have a timeless classic design.
Speed: well this is a given. its a 2.0 liter car so Lancer wins a milestone.
During acceleration, the engine response is very quick. In edsa, i was able to speed up from 20kph to 120kph in mere seconds. Great great engine! With my Mazda 1.6, I'd rather be riding a tricycle & still get to my destination faster.
Fuel Consumption: Ahhh....Gasoline! the endless debate! well i was pretty amazed on how the civic reached a fair amount of gas consumption for a 1.8L engine. The Mazda (considering it only had a 1.6L engine carrying a heavy body) gulps fuel like crazy. And so the Lancer falls somewhere in the middle of the two... which is not bad at all. Forgive me, i havent really given any notice to the Kilometers per liter these cars make.
Others: Aircon of the lancer is not that chilly (& to think we havent had a real sunny day since i got the car...so im thinking if the summer comes, im dead). Civic & Mazda are more chilly. Headlights is a bit poor but the rotating lights when you turn your steering wheel is a great benefit on blind corners esp at night (genius thinking behind it). Trunk space is not good. It give this to the Civic.
Summary: Aside from the shitty interior (which technically can be altered with just a few thousand pesos), i'm in love with the lancer. Especially the color. hehe

Hi guys/tsikot forum!
This is my first post. :D
I was browsing the net looking for filipino owners of lancer gls/glx and im glad to have landed here.
Im a first time car owner and a first time driver.
I got the Mitsu Lancer GLS (black) last May 28. Got it for P69x,xxx in Union Motors Paco.
I was thinking of getting a Vios, City, Hyundai i10 or Nissan sentra but my brother suggested this car. AFter doing some research we concluded that the lancer is the best deal.
All I can say is that it looks fine and it works fine.
I named my lancer jing-jing. :D Did you guys also name your car?
I use shell unleaded with e10. Is that ok?
I agree that the engine is kind of loud when you start it up.
ill post some pics of my jing-jing when i get home.

^^^ glad to hear from a satisfied lancer 1.6 gls owner.
the loud engine noise is really present in the lancer 1.6 variant based on what i heard/read from other owners.
how is the performance of the car in terms of:
> fuel consumption?
> ride feel/handling/suspension set-up?
> kalampag issues?
> interior roominess?
> acceleration of the auto transmission?
sorry for the questions above. i'm just curious to know the real score of the car since we're also considering buying one soon. don't want to develop the "buyer's remorse" feeling after purchase. hehe
and by the way, pls post pics of your nice black lancer 1.6 gls.
thanks!
Planning to buy a second car. Help me choose. Honda accord has 71k mileage for ₱465,000 Nissan...
