December 25th, 2010 05:49 PM #1272Everyone,
Need your professional help and advice since you all are happy owners of the lancer 1.6 GLX(I presume?). This will be my very first purchase, i am seriously considering the lancer 1.6GLX(my other options in relation my budget are the vios, fiesta, mazda2, civic and 2011 hyundai accent). I like the GLX for it's simple exterior(very classic) and roomy interior(best for family requirements, i have an 9 month old baby girl). My problem is obviously it's a very "old" model with old technology. the FC is not that economical compared with the other brands. I also feel the price is way too high considering it's age.
If you were in my shoes would you still buy it?(Jan. 2011) What would be a fair price to ask the dealers considering what i've said so far? Do you have any other options in mind? I know this has been asked in this thread a hundred times, but could i get your present odometer readings, when was it bought(both for the manual and automatic owners) and current FC. I wanna see if the FC for this car is still improving and by how much.
Thanks for the read lancer owners. Looking forward to all your inputs and free advice. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Hi guys / mga sir! Ako din thinking of getting 1.6 Lancer CVT. My budget is 800k max, kung makakamura ciempre mas OK. With all due respect to sir grayfox, tingin ko naman eh tama lang ang price ng Lancer even if it's an "old" car. I consider it a steal compared to other models, kasi sa ibang brands, mga 1.3 engine A/T subcompacts lang ang ka price range nito. Unfair siguro sa Lancer CVT kung ibangga natin ang specs nia with A/T Civic or Altis na more than 100k ang price diff.
Please correct me if I am misguided, but I think Lancer is an honest to goodness car that can take me from point A to B. Decent for the price, konting dress up lang kahit "old" body gwapo pa rin. hehehe.
Pahingi naman po ng opinions nio for us planning to purchase this early next year. Thanks!
PS It's my first car din kaya di pa ako ready bumili ng mga tipo ng Civic or Mazda 3. Ung Vios naman for me feeling ko kasi ay taxi ang kotse ko pag un ang nabili ko (no offense meant po sa mga may Vios. personal ko lang po). So more like Lancer vs. City 1.3 S A/T lang ako; or if i can get a trusty second hand Civic or Rav4 (asa! haha.)

December 26th, 2010 06:35 AM #1274I had my car checked in one casa in sta. rosa city on 15t km PMS . As they hand me the key as it was done. Pag start ko ng aircon strange noise '' tik-tik" on the blower. So i went back to complain ,after some small picking medyo nawala ang noise and i was asked to have my aircon serviced and cleaned for a 7t fee, so i said, i will comeback perhaps on my next PMS .
The next day i heard the "tik-tik" when switch it #2 fan speed.Very annoying sound,so i tried to pry the fan and i found a straw rope about 3 meters long with some walis tingting strips. I reached through the glove compartment after ripping the plastic screen and i found some more cut straw rope like a nest.
How did these stuffs got there...be my judge. tsk..tsk...

December 27th, 2010 03:11 PM #1276*Grayfox: I bought mine last Nov 09.Now at 21+++ kms, Problem free pa din. My FC ranges from 8.5-11 km/ltr. Pag highway naman, so far, 16km/ltr (max 100kph). If I were in your shoes, I'll have a hard time choosing Fiesta, M2 and Lancer. Fiesta and M2 kasi every 10k ang interval ng PMS nila while Lancer for its roomy interior. FC wise, it really depends on the user. Basta alam mo ang capacity ng car mo, malalaman mo kung pano maging matipid. Nagsimula ako nun sa 8.5Km/ltr. After 5000km, umabot na ako sa average na 9.5.

I have a 2-year old GLX, which has ran for 21,000 kms. City driving FC is around 8-9 km/L. Highway driving, I went as high as 16. Lancer is a good buy, compared to Vios, City, Fiesta, Mazda, even the Altis, mainly because of the price. What the others have the Lancer also has, only the Lancer is cheaper. What the Lancer doesn't have are just extras, not really essentials.
I also have 1.5 A/T Vios, odo reading less than 12,000 kms. The Vios' FC is better, despite the fact that it's A/T, 9-11 km/L on city driving. What I hate about it is its A/C. Sobrang hina compared sa Lancer. Yong no. 1 ng Lancer mas malamig pa sa no. 2 ng Vios.
