Last April, pinalitan yung gas tank ko dahil umilaw yung check engine light and sabi nila madumi daw yung gas, when we checked the tank, they were right, kinakalawang yung gas tank, kita mo agad pag bnuksan mo yung lagayan ng gas.
Last month while driving, namatayan ako ng makina while driving, akala ko chamba lang so I just let it go.
Ngayon nang yayari nanaman sya and dumadalas na...
Here's whats going on, light footed ako mag drive usually nasa 1.5k -1.8k rpm.
I noticed while driving minsan mag sstuck sya sa mga 1.2k rpm to 1.4k rpm, tapos kahit anong apak ko sa gas, ayaw na umakyat ng rev, hanggang doon nakang, kahit i flooring ko na, ayaw parin umakyat ng rev, pwede ko bitawan yung gas, bababa yung rev nnormal starting rev nya, then i'll try stepping on the gas again but it still won't go pass 1.4k rpm. Pag hinayaan ko syang naka ganun eventually namamatay makina ko. Feeling ko may bumabara but i'm not sure, the only way n naaayos sya is by turning the engine off and starting it again which is really a hassle.
Any thoughts on this?
By the way, I'm driving a 2010 gls montero.
One last dillema, after they changed my gas tank last April, warranty expired last May.

I have some clarifications sir..
What is your current ODO reading?
Do you note the appearance of a Check Engine Light when this situation happens? What you are experiencing is called the Limp Mode. The ECU limits engine power when it detects a fault so that the engine will not destroy itself. It will provide just enough power for you to drive and pull over to the nearest shoulder/safety zone. Then the engine stops. Parang amplifier na nag protect. It usually occurs with faults concerning the fuel system.
It may have registered a fault code which is stored in the ECU. You can try and retrieve this using a generic OBD scanner or have the casa do it with their own computer software called the MUT. The MUT can also perform some diagnostic tests to isolate the problem. The diagnostic code can help pinpoint your Montero's problem or provide a starting point in the diagnosis.
Since you have a history of rusting in the fuel tank, I agree with checking the fuel filter (might be clogged but should have been changed together with the fuel tank), or the Suction Control Valve (might have worn out or stuck due to rust particles). Connections of harnesses within the engine bay should also be checked (based on personal experience). HTH.

I'm not sure where to take my car now, last time i brought it to the casa they can't solve the problem and just said, "battery lang yan" which we just changed sine mahina na yung last battery ko, also fuel filter was just change when we had the tank replaced, nagpa 60k maintenance nadin ako sa casa nun when they replaced the tank... Any montero expert mechanic you guys can suggest? And since yung topak ng monty ko is not consistent, ndi ko alam pano ko papakita sa mechanic yung nangyayari...

June 9th, 2013 09:55 AM #947When compared to new, are there any performance changes that you have noted? Like a general decrease in power (not during the time it acts up) and fuel economy? What about excessive black smoke?
I would still recommend you to have an analysis via MUT sa casa. Ask them the specific things you want checked. Like the following things we mentioned. That would be a start.
I don't believe it is the battery sir.
Another alternative to the casa for diagnosis is a diesel specialist shop. There is one along Quezon Ave beside Capitol Med if you are Metro Manila based..

most probably limp mode nga yan pag ayaw umakyat ng revs. a bad/weak battery/fuel supply/batt charging issues can cause limp mode better na lang pa check sa casa.

June 9th, 2013 11:40 PM #949Thanks for the input mga sir, i'll have it check in another casa nalang siguro, once i'm sure na its fixed, i'll let you guys know what caused it and how to fix it. Sa question pala ni ek2jayvee, sa gas consumption and smoke, nothing has changed, npansin ko lang siguro ngayon, mas mabagal response niya when stepping on the gas pedal, dati pag apak ng gas, akyat agad rev, now medyo mabagal compared dati, hindi sobrang bagal pero medyo bumagal lng... Thanks again!!
