Only major expenses/issues I recall were tires (when replacing all 4), battery, steering wheel controls do not function anymore, no more batteries on the TPMS tire receivers, front wiper water noozle needed constant clearing to ensure a good spray, and no map update for the GPS unit.

Another major expense was the timing belt and related parts change (this is expected). Aircon was not an issue although during heavy traffic, it would lose its cool but once it was moving again, it became cool again.
I was reading this thread this afternoon....

On the AC issue bro.,- have you tried asking the AC technician to remove a shim/spacer on the compressor? It makes sense that the compressor has lost some of its efficiency, and is now not fully engaged at low rev (vs. in the past) and would compensate only at high rev, when running the vehicle...

Kindly see entry #1648 on this thread.

    Worth a try bro.

a year ago, i had spacer issue with my 2005 innova's factory-issue compressor.
i knew from last visit, that i still had one removable spacer, for when the clutch became too loose.
so the day came that the clutch became too loose, and it wasn't cooling anymore.
when i brought it for spacer removal, try as they might, they couldn't open it! binaba pa nila yung compressor, but they still couldn't open it. apparently, something had corroded and stuck itself fast, inside.
i had no choice but to purchase a new compressor.
    malamig naman afterward.
    sigh.

    i wonder,
"how many overkills had these unscrupulous fellows accomplished, baklasing the dashboard, knowing fully well that all that had to be done was to remove a coin-sized washer from the aircon compressor's magnetic clutch...?
that spacer can be removed inside of five minutes, using ordinary hand tools...

I am sure many have been so unlucky.
