Although reliability was really number 1 on my list.. it seems with the Fort, that is all you get.

Since the 2021 Fortuner (facelift) came out the G downgraded from a digital climate control to a rotary, old-school type A/C controls. Yes, I totally agree with you that the previous Fortuner Gs felt more premium than the newer ones 2021-present Fortuner Gs.

There are a lot of electronic stuff like the electronic parking brake (w/ auto hold which I learned allows car to stop or go); all those things controlled from the steering wheel; etc.

    Anyone encounter problems with these?

I am old school kasi hehe.. so my mindset is the more electronics in the car the more chance of issues?
(or do these worries have no basis, and do not really affect reliability of the car)

Eto nakita ko reported issues from group:

    1. Faulty Infotainment - hindi na nagrerespond touch screen. Siguro mostly affected is yung walang covered parking (just my guess).
    2. Faulty auto lift gate - talamak daw tong issue na to from Black Series variant.

Sa e-brake, wala namang reported na issue, mostly sa mga more than 5 yrs na unit, a handful of them reported na may problem na. But most of the remedies ay sensor lang daw pinapalitan/fault. Buong module pinapalitan ng CASA if magkaproblema eto and it cost a lot (around 70k daw).
But if sa labas ipapagawa, sensor lang mostly pinapalitan at mura lang daw price nito.

#1, if it is still sourced from AVT that has the "capacitive old style LCD screen", then it is really prone to failure after a few years per my experience. The previous generation Montero we had original AVT unit was replaced before the 3rd year warranty expired and the 2nd replacement unit's touchscreen started failing after 2 years (deadspot where touchscreen doesn't work starts appearing/spreading from). This came out even when it was parked mostly in covered parking areas.

If the alarm system is still also working with the one from Winterpine, expect it to fail as well where it just becomes "too sensitive". 2 events in our previous generation Montero had that controller piece under the steering wheel replaced. First time was just on 1st year of ownership, 2nd time was before warranty expired. It lasted a few years outside warranty until it didn't. We just unplugged that controller to stop it from making a racket. The Keyless Entry still works even after unplugging the alarm controller anyway as it is a separate control unit that is "stock" to the previous gen Montero. I do think the internal design of current Montero is still similar, just don't know which ones they sourced locally from Winterpine or if it is a different supplier nowadays, or all is set before it is shipped from Thailand.

Personally have no clue but sa sobrang "cost effective" even si Toyota PH diba nag AVT units din for their Fortuner and Hilux?

I think the first years for 2nd gen Fortuner G models from 2016 has the rotary A/C dials. a Couple of my friends bought one to replace their previous 1st Gen G and V model fortuners. They were disappointed with the interior of the 2nd gen fortuner plus lack of features that were present in their previous Fortuner.
But give credit to Toyota for adding new features to the fortuner G after just 1 year being released.

About infotainment, good for you umabot ng 1 yr.
Sa mga latest model nila lalo na yung late 2021 units, 3 months lang na experience na nila non-responsive touch screen.
Iba nga ginamitan ng USB mouse para lang ma navigate ang screen.

what do you folks do, when your so-called oem HUs fail?

    i.e.,
what replacement units do you install?
