Features of the '97 EL?
*When the engine is cold it draws air from a hole in the exhaust manifold heatshield to hasten warm up. It automatically switches to drawing from the open end of the air cleaner hose aftwerwards. Which is kinda cool since in older cars, there is even a manual switch for this labelled W and S (winter and summer).
*It had side door guard mouldings, right? (the Corolla XL and non-SS Sentra of same vintage did not)
*Did it have child locks for the rear door?
*Remote control fuel filler and trunk release
*Fully carpeted trunk
*Plastic door panels (not vinyl)
*All the a/c vents can be closed individually

September 25th, 2006 02:30 PM #27had a chance to test (for 1 week) a lancer 97 EL nung bibili ako ang 2nd hand na car (against Honda city Exi 97)...
eto lang ang napansin ko...
- the one i tested eh ndi pa power steering
- carb type
- medyo mabigat yung body (same body yata sya with GL/GLxi...according to Mitsubishi), so for 1.3L na engine eh parang under-power sya...
try mo palitan ng in-take to add some power...

yup, yung mga pizza may mga PS na yun. kase mas mahal pa ata sya sa Lancer EX (itlog) series na meron nang power steering. other than PS though, wala nang features ang EL (pizza) kung stock. although it has colored keyed bumpers and a much more upscale looking na sidings.
