What's the difference with the different Turbo models? higher rpms? oh by the way, I'm planning to try 5 washers...hehe sana may boost controller and boost gauge nako.para di na kumakapa sa washers. I tried taking off the filter one night. hehe SWOOSH ang tunog ng turbo. hehe mukhang kelangan ko na ng less restrictive filter para sulit sulit ang turbo. :D

has anyone put an open-type filter in their pajeros here?
if so, can you please post photos?
saan po ba makakuha nung tube to replace the stock airbox and its components? is it necessary that this tube be stainless?
can this be fabricated, and then purchase the aftermarket open type filter, and VOILA!
thanks...

Si KC and ako, we tried open filters, I gave up on mine and installed a drop-in unit instead.

nugundam93, yeah replacing the turbo would make a world of difference. Both in performance and price hehehe.
Actually I'd be happy with the Thailand spec Variable Vane Turbo released with their 4D56 powered Stradas.

pajerokid: pwede pala drop-in and no need to change the tubings? kasi i noticed na you have to screw in the stock air filter dun sa parang air intake drum...
also, i've added 3 more washers, so 6 washers each na. boost spikes to 15psi from the old 12psi using 3 washers each but drops down to 14psi with an accompanying pfshhhh sound like a weak BOV...i think dun na lang kaya talaga ng wastegate, ayaw niya prolonged 15psi. i'll confirm further when we have a funrun this sunday. :D

ingat lang nugundam, 6 washers/screw is uncharted territory for us
In any case, do give us feedback.
On the open filters, you have to remove the stock air filter box before you could install the open filter. you have the option of using the stock rubber tubing which connects the airbox to the turbo. deskartehan mo na lang with the bits and pieces which come with the open filter to make it fit the tube.
I'd post pics kaya lang all of em were wiped out becoz some idiot failed to back them up during a WinXP reinstall (that idiot would be me hehehe)

I used a Simota unit. kung maalaga ka and you follow the cleaning intervals, you'd be fine, i guess.
Yung sakin, sa sobrang dusty ng roads nag clog and the turbo sucked the metal mesh and twisted it. naging twister tuloy yung erstwhile cone shape filter. lucky for me, nothing got sucked into the turbo, nung binaklas ko, i found some plastic parts crushed, and again luckily none went into the impellers.
Believe me guys, performance wise, walang pinagkaiba ang open sa drop-in.
With the drop-in, you get open type performance, stock water-proofing and dust shielding.... but of course it comes with stock looks.... which to some people is actually an upside.
Yung extra AUX Fan is useful sa mga naka montero. Mag improve daw yung AC system since may extra...
