gen3s should be 4x4. wala pa naman kasi ata ginawang gen3 na specific for our market, so you'll probably be going for indent order or grey market if you get one.

    nice things:

    1. all independent suspension -- better ride and handling at expense of offroad ability, but according to a comparo in 4x4 mag (vs the LC120 prado) the gen 3 pajero is just as capable off-road as its predecessor with the solid rear axle, perhaps even more so. this owes to very large suspension stroke, and the fact that the vehicle can now move forward even with opposing tyres lifted off the ground (thanks to nifty new traction control devices).

    2. great engines! the 4M41 diesel leads its class with 175hp, while the 6G74 GDI makes in excess of 215hp. i'm not sure if the latest v6 model makes less than when the gen3 was first announced, but i remember an early press release did put the 6G74 at some 235hp.

    3. build quality seems up a few notches. the A/T is now a 5-speed invecs-ii with the manual shift option. interior also very nice, and driving position is more 4x4-like than the prado which has adopted car-like seating for its occupants.

    splerdu,

Stock for stock a GEN 3 is just as capable. But that's the problem, there isnt much you can do with an independent set up.

    pajerokid,

Sir, tinanong ko din po ang Mitsu tech kung pwede upgrade previous 4D56 and 4M40 to be Euro 1 compliant pero sad to say kailangang palit a major portion of the fuel system to do it. Masyado daw expensive ans since the Clean Air Act Emissions test provided a leeway for this it's not a practical choice of improvement. Pero your Pajero washers is still the best. :D
