Nabuksan na engine? Atleast remove cylinderhead?
kung walang major problem with cylinder block, its worth overhauling.
You need not buy new components, maraming magandang surplus.
What is important is to know what is damaged and what can be retained.
May electronic fuel injection pump na 4m4o that would need a computer box.
That may complicate wirings.

if your near las pinas meron dito magaling na mechanic ng engine.. talagang engine lang ginagawa nya..dito lang sya along zapote alabang road sa kanto ng red ribbon makalampas lang ng RFC from Zapote.. dun ako nagpa overhaul nung bumigay cylinder head gasket ko.. galing talaga hands down ako hehehe.. ako din kasi mahilig magbutingting ng sasakyan pero sa kanya bilib talaga ako pagdating sa makina.. hindi lang masyado kita yung shop nya at mukhang backyard pero dinadayo talaga.. nagulat ako nung una ko punta kasi ipipila mo yung sasakyan mo dun (mga 2 days bago nasimulan) kasi dami din papagawa at puro BMW at Mercedes benz ang kasabay ko..

bought last month 93 Pajero JDM 4m40 engine. sirain ba 4m40 engine? may kilala ba kayo na 4m40 owners na successful nakapag overhaul?

No sir, my Fieldmaster already has 186K on it and it has never been overhauled.

Hi guys, i know this was a long long ago topic pero just an update narin for the benefit of those who want to know what happened.

I bought the surplus 4m40 engine, bolted it on my FM by my trusted talyer, di muna binuksan but change oil lang, and voila since last year pa up to now okay na okay, no smoke. regular PMS lang. pagmakaipon, papa overhaul ko yung kinatok na makina, and voila! i have a spare engine to bolt on just in case lang. Dapat talaga maingat at mabusisi lang sa pagpili ng makina.

imho, i would buy a surplus japan kesa ipa overhaul ko, due to bad expirience about overhauling
naka 2 baba na yung makina ko in a span of 1 year to be exact

If tiwala ka na maganda pagkaka-OH at regular change oil, oil filter ka every 5,000km then no need to have addt'l cost for the other engine. Matibay naman diesel engine eh.

Puwede na i-OH mo din yun tapos sabay benta para mabawi mo pa kunti yung cost. OH would be aroung 20-30K then benta mo ng 50-60K. It's just me though.
