im planning to get a 97 3door pajero. and im thinking of swaping out the 2.5 turbo diesel engine for a 4G63 TURBO gasoline fed engine still complete with 4WD and a complete BOLT-ON to the chassis. wat do you think? any feed backs?

Saan galing 4G63? Kakabit kaya iyon? Kasi ang 4 cylinder ng Pajero ay iyong 2600 na carb diba? The rest of the gasoline engines are variants of the 6G72 family. Dalawang 3.0L at isang 3.5L.

Ano ba yung donor vehicle? EVO? Wala namang transfer case ang EVO diba? Yung Pajero meron. Saka, independent suspension siya all around unlike the Pajero na solid axle sa likod.

hello andeyyy. even if it were possible, i wouldnt advise you to do so. For an suv kasi, you need peak torque at the lower end of the powerband.

for a 3-door swb paj, okay ang 2.5 tdi engine. if you need more power, why not just tweak your turbo boost by installing a manual boost controller and a boost guage. then, tweak your air intake and exhaust systems.

if you're really bent on a higher displacement engine, the 4m40 engine will be appropriate. just be ready to modify some items like your engine mounts, tranny brackets and mounts, t-case brackets and mounts. medyo complicated ang project but at the end, you'll get the power (at the lower band of the rpm) you'll need for an SUV especially if you go off-road.

is your 3-door paj acquired from the auction in Subic? you may consider checking out its steering and brake systems first before re-powering your engine. as they say, safety first!

    teka teka teka!!!!!!

andeyyy::: If you havent bought a unit yet, why not save the trouble and just get a Pajero with a 4M40? Or if you really want speed, get one with a 6G-Something 3.5L V6.

It will save you the time and trouble of engine swapping  if getting the Gas..... imagine the mod potential of a 24 valve V6.....with 3500cc's  The stock 5 door paj with this engine goes up to 190kph.........stock

    6G74 3.5 230 hp
    6G74 3.5 GDI 245hp

plenty fast, methinks. pero magandang idea pa rin yung swap mo. bolt on yung 4G63T from evo IV upwards (same tranny as the 2.4li gas), and the 4G63T actually has more low-end torque than the strongest pajero. for comparison:

    6G74 3.5 GDI - 245hp*5500rpm, 348N-m*3750rpm
    4G63T 2.0T - 280hp*6500rpm, 383N-m*3500rpm

good luck po sa project mo, at makikibalita na lang kami =)

if you're getting the 3-door pajero, there are models of those that come stock with the 4M40, 6G72 or 6G74. the 6G74mivec is a very good idea, but i imagine that engine won't come cheap... might be better to try looking for a whole pajero evo instead.

if you do want to go on with your swap, keep in mind that the belief that suv/truck engines are always torquier than their car counterparts is a myth... in fact, if you're talking about sportscars, the opposite is often true. the new range rover, which shares engines with the X5 and the 540i sport recently out-towed its traditional competition, including Landcruiser 100, Patrol 4800 and Explorer 4.6 v8. (comparo in recent overlander magazine)
