Sir niky correct me if im wrong, ito ba yung 91 octane level ng shell with 10% ethanol? Base on my experience na try ko ilagay sa mirage 91 octane rating ( caltex )hindi maganda ang takbo ng engine medyo sluggish but nag switch ako sa 95 octane ( gold ) medyo gumanda ang takbo at less noise sa engine. Question, Is it worth paying high octane rating sa engine ng mirage? How about using ethanol combine with premium gasoline? Is it compatible sa engine ng mirage?TIA

IIRC all gasolines (except for Blaze 100) are 10% ethanol by law. I also experience sluggishness and more engine noise on 91 octane fuels that's why I mix it with higher octane variants every now and then

91 RON is actually 88 RON base fuel with ethanol (increases RON).
95 RON is actually 92 RON base fuel with ethanol.
However, when you read in your manual that the car needs 91 RON, it doesn't matter if it's pure 91 RON or if it's 88 RON enhanced with ethanol.

Sir bosbik,
Kung about po sa fuel, about sa difference ng regular at premium (generalized)
Regular --- medyo mataas ang flash point.. (matagal i-burn up ng spark-plug)
Disadvantage po: , slow peak acceleration, lalo sa paakyat, or in a certain overtake situation,
pansinin nyo po yung mga sasakyan parang humihilik (knocking sound [valves]) during uphill, or overtaking.
kung MT ang transmission po, to compensate yung lack power, change to a certain gear, and medyo madiin sa gas para ma-compensate yung power, para iwas stall or hindi mabitin sa overtaking,
kung sa AT naman, need to step up the accelerator quite hard, or shift it in a lower gear..
(in short po, downshift lagi ang gagawin)
Sa Premium,
Advantage: Mas mabilis mag burn up yung gasoline sa spark plug, yung FC, will improve better + yung peak performance, will be always ready to max. performance
kahit sa uphill situation or overtaking situation, instead of downshift, pag kaya na mag accelerate sa low gear, pwede na i-upshift,
and yung stepping up sa acceleration pedal, hindi kailangan ng heavy application...
Disadvantage: Pricey,
In short po Sir bosbik, kahit ano po na fuel na ikarga, as long as po na gasoline
kahit 91, 93, 95, 97, or 100 ang octane rating. no problem po yan,
Kahit ano po na displacement less than 1.0 or above,
as long as na "gasoline engine"
walang problem po yan..
Safe driving po Sir! (Y)

Actually matters if you leave the gasoline in the tank too long. While gasoline naturally goes bad... the easy evaporation of ethanol means it loses its efficiency as an octane booster much faster. If you don't drive a lot, it is sometimes a good idea to go for a higher octane fuel or even go for Blaze (no ethanol)
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

^^^ Or you can fill up with just a week's worth of lower octane fuel.

91 is the minimum required, considering what is available in the market (ethanol mix) & the scruples of other entrepreneurs (selling below rated gasoline)
We are better off with octane rating higher than the minimum recommended.
A 95 octane dissipated value could be pegged at 92 octane which still meets the minimum requirement while a 91 dissipating at 88 is below minimum required

July 22nd, 2014 09:41 PM #5500hi guys
I am gonna inspect this coming a weekend a repo Mirage GLX CVT model. There is limited info on the net like it has clocked in a 19km already so I need to check it onsite. What are the things to check?
