If car A does better than car B on a standardized test cycle (such as the mixed Euro cycle that Mitsubishi uses), then it can be said that car A is generally more efficient than car B. The actual figures of car A and car B in the "real world" would depend on so many variables like driving style, traffic and road conditions, weather, engine tuning, tyre pressures, etc.

Heck, even my daily commute in "typical" conditions varies by 10-20% tank-to-tank without me noticing any changes in driving style or traffic condition!
    yess.. that too.

See how the MIrage accelerates from 0 to 100 Km in this Thai car review - Mitsubishi Mirage 1.2GLX MT - Clip1 - YouTube
You can browse afterwards to see how the CVT variant accelerates.

Do note that imperial (UK) gallons are bigger than US gallons - 4.5L vs. 3.8L respectively.

That still translates to almost 24km/L which is not too shabby at all.

Try to check out their other videos. Ung honda jazz, mazda 2 and suzuki swift. Ginamitan ko ng stop watch to count how many seconds for them to reach 0-100 km/h. Halos pareho lang sila ng time. mirage is even a second faster. pag kakaiba lang nila ay ang gear ratio. sobrang baba ng 1st gear going to 2nd gear.

From marikina to baguio (nlex [steady at 2k rpm], sctex [half steady at 2k rpm and half sagad breakin speed * 100kph], marcos hiway [2k-4k rpm) ang best FC ko sa MID is 20.6 km/l (ill post the pic sa FB page kasi hndi ko maaccess photobucket right now). Average speed is 80-100kph. I still have half tank of gas and kung d cguro ko masyado magiikot i can make it back to manila w/o refilling. Distanced travel is mga 280-290 kms. Kaya nman sa mga inclines pero pag sobrang steep kailangan mag shift sa "B" kaya umaabot sa 4k rpm. Satisfied mirage owner here. Ill post the manual fc computation when I got back. =)
Wow ganda po ng FC nyo! 20.6km/l.

Just compare it with your existing car. Any KM/L higher means money saved for you.

We get about 12KM/L sa Fiesta namin. With the Mirage, 17KM/L. Not shabby at all.

Yes, these are pretty good numbers.
Take the Mirage and comparing it with your older car (which most likely is heavier and has a bigger displacement), the Mirage will always come out the more fuel efficient. Fuel saving for all, no matter what your driving style is, your route's traffic condition and laden weight.

Fuel efficiency is relative. That's why it is a different number even for the same car model from various owners.
In the end you may find out it's your driving habit causing the higher fuel consumption or where you live and drive.
