Here's another update. Just got a fax of the Outlander brochure from a sales rep in one of the local casas.

Pictures and text are not very clear, but here are some details worth noting...
    1) both versions will have the 3.0L V6 engine
    2) both will also have 18" wheels
    3) higher version will have the Rockford 9-speaker sound system
    4) there will be steering mounted paddle shifters (dunno which version)
    5) rear seats can fold and tumble using a one-touch button function
    6) local Outlander will be a 5-seater only??

I dont know if this is a smart move, especially now that fuel prices are still significantly higher than it was around four years ago.

That's alright since the third row seats have been critized in the US as being too "cozy".

If price between P1.4M-P1.7M, parang ang mura for a V6 3.0L SUV, di ba? Price-wise, this would be the most logical SUV to buy rather than the Grand Vitara V6 2.7L and overpriced RAV4.

yup i just heard from another forum 1.4m+ and 1.6m+ both will have the 3.0L v6. i think this brings much better value than the overpriced rav4. for the people ranting about the 3.0L... isipin nyo na lang that you're getting much more for the same money. i think we have a winner here since the CRV will only have the 2.4L and the old 2.0L engine

read some reviews from the states which shares the same 3.0 v6 and six speed tranny - actual mileage were more than 23 mpg which is close to 10 km/l this is with the 4X4 engaged - epa ratings are even higher at 25 or 26 mpg highway. I think that these are pretty good figures considering that you have 220hp and over 200 ft-lbs of torque on tap.

Wala pa ba outlander dito sa Pinas? Ano ba yan, nagsasawa na nga ako sa itsura niya sa picture e wala pa din.

I think this Mitsu outlander will drag the fortuner price lower and spec. up to be able to keep up with the competition once its already out.

I also do not believe that Toyota fortuner will have their current customers for long. Believe me, a lot of fort owners will sell theirs especially with the problematic D4D engine type at ipalit nila ng Mitsu Outlander. Parang cellphone lang yan, na kung ano bagong labas lalu na kung maganda e mabenta.

Keep in mind that EPA ratings are not very accurate and can be off by as much as 5mpg. Next is traffic in the US is nothing like the Philippines so don't expect anything close to 10Km/l.

    redorange,
the 23 mpg i read was the actual consumption during the test and not the epa rating (which is 26 mpg). But i do agree that conditions here in the philippines are different so an actual test must be done - a realistic one not like the economy runs conducted by honda and isuzu.
