October 22nd, 2009 07:03 PM #12Guys, I brought the advie sa shop na... kakatakot ang kailangan gawin... so far, I left the shop with the engine's open wide..I'm still talking with my dad regarding our next move...
SO FAR....engine problems found are...
1. TIMING BELTS and oil seal needs replaced
2. Injector needs to be calibrated or replaced nozzles
3. Pulley have to be fix/ replaced (may play na daw while the engine is running)
4. Pistons and rings have to be check (most likely replaced) kasi may white Smoke na when the oil cap is opened
5. Crankshaft have to be replaced kasi di na daw aligned/ or the pulley doesn't fit tightly na daw
parang overhaul na kailangan... mechanic said mga 70T ang estimate kasi mahal daw ang crankshaft at mga pistons, etc.
Suspension, clutch, brakes, electrical and fuel lines have not been checked pa... parang ayoko na bumalik dun... hehehe
Kausapin ko na lang mamaya si Santino, baka makatulong siya. hahaha
what u think guys? kaya pa ba ito ibalik sa "RELIABLE" condition na parang bago?

October 22nd, 2009 07:07 PM #13oh I forgot pala, my dad doesn't believe in surplus parts or quick fix (machine shop).. kahit mahal ang parts, ok lang sa kanya basta brandnew at JAPAN....
Downside is..AKO ang taga bantay sa shop (whole day).

oo naman basta good mechanik.. IMHO, ang problem lang kasi, you are really decided to buy a new one kaya mukhang wala kang ganang ipaayos yun.. Maybe you will have a change of heart once na naayos na lahat ang problema.

137k on the odo is nothing for an 11 year old car if regular maintenance is religiously followed. My 10 year old lancer has 259k on the odo and i have no worries whatsoever. i just brought it to pagudpud a few months ago and it did its duty so well.

October 22nd, 2009 08:19 PM #18I feel kasi iba talaga kung brand new condition kasya mga re-conditioned unit. Just imagine, overhaul, palitan pa ang crankshaft.. i heard mahal daw ang crankshaft sa MMPC..
Btw, ako ang gagastos sa repairs since my dad is retired na. But I don't mind.. I just feel like i'm wasting my money sa repairs.
Kia had offered me a trade.. brand new picanto swap with our advie plus 340T. But ayaw ng dad ko ng auto, eventhough he usually drives alone. Sanay na kasi sa advie plus he gets a better view upfront. If only MMPC would accept trade-in.. hehehe

Yes, definitely. It will feel different if you're driving a brand new. And a brand-new is definitely better.
Since it is YOUR MONEY. It's your choice, it's like your dad is just giving out his opinion.
The last " say " will still come from you.

IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
