CTV News has learned two people have been handed citations, after a bizarre incident was recorded by a bystander on an Edmonton LRT train, posted on the internet, and went viral.

The cell phone video was recorded Thursday evening, and posted to Facebook – and apparently shows a young woman behaving strangely, before appearing to attack a man sitting next to her by grabbing his neck, and then his hair.

The two then get into a fight, before Edmonton Transit officers step in.

Stills taken from cell phone video of an apparent attack on an LRT train Thursday, May 8.

An Edmonton Transit official said police were also originally called in to deal with the incident.

“Once the individuals were removed from the train, our transit peace officers were able to gather information including witness statements from the individuals involved, and based on that information it was determined that EPS involvement was no longer required,” Cheryl Oxford with the City of Edmonton said.

Both of the people seen fighting in the video were given tickets for fighting in public.
