loan and leverage I like that term. pero 3 years ago since I started mangutang. I was never really comfortable taking a loan kasi ayaw ko bayad ng interest.

pero one idea hit me, and it's right under my nose. My dad who always compare me with others, specifically mga anak ng mga ka-golf nya or kasama nya sa tarbaho, tipong nag-aral daw ng medicine, nag MBA, nag-aral sa New York, Stanford etc. na ang gagaling daw di katulad ko, kasi nag-aral sila kaya sila successful.

so sabi ko mag-aral din kaya ako, and so I computed magkano tuition ng medical school or mba, including time spent, dorms, and other school expenses and allowances. mahina P2M pesos in the long haul, lalo na medicine.

and then I encounter this quote: Experience is the best teacher. Mistakes make us who we are.

so I came up with this, why not loan that entire amount that those bright sons of my dad's friends spent. and then gastusin ko according sa gusto ko pace and life. so hinati ko nag-gym ako, bumili ako ng mamahalin gym clothes/shoes, iphones, macbooks, tapos pamper myself mga spa, massage as well as good restos pero dapat naka-promo lahat. and then self-study ako sa youtube na lang, walang curriculum, walang sequence ng course, basta learn one skill, focus, master, then 2nd skill, focus master so on and so forth.

You know what I experienced, napansin ko 100% attentive sa ginagawa ko as maybe compared to when I was in DLSU, siguro 50% of my time their was spent girl-watching, daydreaming and tambay lang. so baket ko uulitin yun as my dad said mag MBA daw ako.

so hayun my dad's friends, lahat sila mataba, yes they're successful. but somehow, wala silang energy or spirit. there's a term for them eh number crunchers. when the math doesnt add up, they wont execute.

alam nyo yun, for example, mayari ka ng club sa BGC as compared to say isa kang VP sa isang fortune company sa BGC. yun mayari ng club ganun din naman achieve, dami pa niya kilala mga models and artista and new friends. pareho din sila may pera at reputation. pero yun executive dami pa libro binasa.

so who says studying is the only path to success. just do whatever it is that will make you 100% focused most of the time. aka Pay Yourself First.

Do you give mid year increase or annual?

When you say resignation benefits, how many months per year of service? New companies start at year 5, but only at half a month per year...

On the other half which I did not quote, 20% is relative as it relates to the actual salary. Small salary, small increase... So 50% or even 100% increase is not uncommon especially if market driven.
I don't know the computation e We will only get our full retirement money of the 10th year of service. If you resign earlier you only get a percentage, eg 90% on the 9th year, 80% on the 8th year.

They follow a set curve prescribed from the best HR consultants who have researched this endlessly. This is checked against industry compensation standards, attrition percentages, historical precedents, performance outcomes, profitability and sustainability, job level and function, etc. You dont work in a mom and pop shop. Not even the VPs there can override that salary adjustment curve.

Do you mean the bell curve?

Wow! I thought my bosses were making me bola. Last year they told me they gave me maximum allowable increase. This year our VP told me she had to request an exception for me to be given "promotion level increase" even if I was not promoted. Normal practice in our company is to give low increase for those promoted in the previous year.

I know I am lucky with my work/bosses but I guess I have more to be thankful for. Parating absent at late and yet they did not take this against me. Mag titino na talaga ako this year. I have to because we have new management and I don't think they will let me get away with murder like my old bosses do

I am speculating on getting myself a bike I could use on the expressways. I was drooling at the Yamaha MT07, MT09, XSR900, and Tracer900 at their showroom in Greenfield Mandaluyong.

Lots of undisciplined and crazy drivers nowadays. Imo, it's more dangerous driving a bike now than it was 20 years ago.

I was more looking at a naked/adventure bike, something good enough on expressways and unpaved roads.

However, my wife has vehemently disapproves of me driving a bike.

yes...its safer..when i was doing mtb...2x akong naka experience going to the ER..one for me and a friend...sa road going home from the trails...sa street if you experience a tumble, its painfull and other cars are not forgiving...on the trails, youll just bounce off the soil/mud/manure...

Yep malaki ang 20%. Even 10% is big na rin ata...

People get higher salaries by moving companies (pero can't do it too often, past a certain number of companies over a quick span, aayaw na yung mga companies when they see that sa cv).
