Just came from a Pisay high school reunion, and had the realization that the best way to get rich is to start off rich.

These batchmates of mine are all brilliant people, but honestly my batchmates from college are better off career-wise than most of them.

After all, if you don't need to worry about your parents' retirement or your siblings' education, if you get your first car, capital for your first business, and possibly even your first property as a gift, if mommy and daddy have friends in high places that can introduce you to the right network - then you're off to a better start than people who just have grit and brains to work with.

+1. A big reason why the kids are sent there is to start networking at a very early age.

Hard to knock the marrying rich strategy, but it's not without its costs. Daming mayaman na nag aaway away dahil sa pera. i don't know that money necessarily corrupts, but you gotta admit there's a strong tendency for that.

On the other hand one of my best friends is well-off, but they manage to keep order. Maganda ang pagpalaki ng magulang.

Wealth can be a curse. Mabuti na lang mahirap mga parents ko, hindi kami binigyan ng ganyang problema :D

Aside from university, rich people find themselves in the same network just coz they're rich in the first place even if they have different backgrounds

Filipino billionaires and HK billionaires and Malaysian billionaires and Indonesian billionaires and Singaporean billionaires know each other and mingle with each other more than they do with regular people in their own countries

It's like in Star Trek where civilizations that develop warp drive technology get noticed by other advanced civilizations

That's when you're worthy to mingle with them

They don't mingle with primitive civilizations

Yep. The rich just get richer and gobble up all the good ideas, distribution contracts, prime real estate, contracts, deals, franchises, territories, etc etc.

And then they hire us pleebs to make them even richer.

But i cant complain. My life is so much better than i ever thought it would be at this point.

Officemate ko naman, 25 years na siya sa office.

3 kids studying sa mga exclusive schools (LSGH, ADMU and Assumption) huge chunk of finances doon napupunta.

Before they can sustain it, but now due to unforeseen circumstances sa office may mga nawala na benefits kaya tinamaan talaga sila (both of them officemates ko)

Nag resign because he got approved for Canadian student visa.

So ginawa niyang strategy /entry point is mag student muna, then while studying mag part time job.

Wife and kids already got multiple entry (tourist)

He is hopeful makahanap din work wife niya and maconvert to working visa. From there kunin na din nila kids nila and maging immigrant. So words niya possible naman daw yun na mangyari lahat.

Super long shot kako and ang laki din gastos / investment to do that, if they succeed then good for them.

For him wala na other choice kaya he opted to take that route.

Just thinking how many years bago mabawi and eventually maging stable sila doon.

Still I wish them well, sana good choice ginawa niya.

I had a College buddy. The father is a postal worker & the mom is a housewife & sells on the side. They lived in a rundown house in a rundown part of Caloocan. The thing is, he is very bright & very very sociable, easy & fun to be with. After school, he worked in sales of a small drug company & was pirated by another local drug distributor. He did so well there that eventually, he became the GM, travels all over the world to meet pharma producers. Given SUVs every 5 years. He now lives in La Vista & has a home in NZ since his kids studied & now works there. It’s a combination of luck, being at the right place at the right time, good decision & great EQ:IQ ratio.
Another friend who works for AMKOR Phl was so good, he was a regional sales head in SEA & goes around SEA 3-4 days of the week. Promoted to Sales head in Asia. After a year, asked to head an office in the US. He goes back to the Phl every weekend then back to US Monday. After a few months, he got tired of it & asked the office if he can just bring his family along. Pumayag naman, so till now, they are in the US.
These guys are normal guys who made their money through hard work, but not by hard work alone. They had the smarts & luck to go with it.
