Wondering where this scene (from Apocalypse Now) is at. I thought I knew. I guess not.

At first, I thought it was somewhere in Cavite province. Now, I'm not so sure. I remember some distant relatives taking me along to some fish ponds (near Covelandia, aka Island Cove) and uh, poaching fish. After catching a few, the owner saw us and yelled at us to run away. As we scampered out, I thought I saw that sign with a star located on the roof. But, it's hard to be sure with the perspective from the ground.

The surrounding area in the screenshot seems a lot more spacious than the fish ponds I went to. That's what makes me skeptical. But, yeah. There were fish ponds and salt pens plus an old building with the star sign on top.

I knew from public gossip back then that parts of Apocalypse Now was being filmed at the Covelandia area. But, the more I think about it, that scene is not the same one I went to. If it is, then the fish ponds in the screenshot may have been partitioned further to make them look smaller.

I spent a lot of time in Cavite province because many of my cousins there were outdoors types like me.

the ride of the valkyries scene ( the attack of the helicopters on the fishing village) was shot in baler, aurora so i suppose that pic of the set was also taken somewhere nearby

There were some scenes at other locations in the PH. But, the screenshot I'm referring to was probably shot at Pagsanjan. The mountains looked a little too near to be in the Covelandia area.

Anyway, I think it was an amazing coincidence the place I went to looked very similar to the one in the screenshot. The little things that didn't look right finally got me thinking. ;)
