Tri city med in pasig mga bros!

Kawawa naman basurero nito or kung sino tao magkasakit/masugatan dahil dyan. Parang iniintay nalang kasi nila basurero dumampot eh, pero diba dapat kahit papaano eh dapat sealed mga ganyan basura?

On the social commentary about people and "jologs" having the purchasing power now, I think this is a combination of YOLO mindset while many these days are not financially literate and a big part is influenced by social media. Yeah, it's keeping up with the Joneses.

Majority of those in social media will only post good things about their life. This creates a virtual perfect life. There have been a lot of sociological analysis on this phenomenon. Everyone thinks others have a perfect life. Just look at the posts during Holy week. Everyone was enjoying their vacation. I have some friends who I found out went to Taiwan and Korea just to watch Coldplay. And if you don't have a very strong foundation and values, you'll feel your life is a trash unless you keep up with your friends. New car, new condo, new iPhone, new sneakers, new watch, out of the country vacation, Starbucks everyday, the list never ends. Hash tag blessed. Hash tag YOLO.

The rich people I know, the really rich ones, simple lang pumorma. Low profile. So secure about their wealth they need not prove it to others.

and that is why they remain poor.
because they are trying hard to appear rich.

tita namin, mukhang pulubi (totoo!), when in truth, she is the richest in the clan.

Yung iba rin mga biglang yaman. So they purchase things they can't before. Without thinking na mauubos din yun.

Again an issue of financial literacy.

I know of families, farming families who sold their land because no one wants to till them anymore. Had they realize, sobrang yaman nila when they still own the farm land, they won't ask for more.

I heard this is the case also of the "biglang yaman" Chinese from mainland. Travel abroad and buy luxury items.

Di naman lahat. For me jologs isn't about how much money you have but how you behave specially in public. Although most of the time more people with less money tend to be jologs.

Some rich people are also jologs. Di talaga nabibili ang good breeding.

+100 on this. And I believe it takes several generations to remove the nouveau riche attitude. I don't know any old money who is active in social media. I have friends who don't work and take 3 month long trips abroad but not a single post in FB. May ofcmate ako na jologs na proud pa sa piso fare posts hundreds of travel pics but I'm sure she stays in crappy accomodation.

We're just sharing our thoughts on society and not naming names. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Which reminds me whenever I see a luxury car or luxury suv I always check the plate number. If it starts with a B, hindi mayaman may ari nun. Grey market yung vehicle. Import. Nagtitipid ang may ari pero gusto magyabang.

Not that I can drive and buy a luxury car kahit B plate. Pero maging makatotohanan lang. Kung di kaya luxury cars, wag magpanggap.

If I can't buy a Rolex, I won't get a class A Rolex from Greenhills.

It's the way he carries himself. He speaks well and is very polite and refined. It's people like him I look up to. Everything he does shows how much class he has (eg always on time). And when he says something he sticks to it.

it's more than keeping up with the joneses

it's the rise of the jejemon class and they far outnumber the sosy polite konyo class

the Du30 vote demonstrates the REJECTION of the konyo class

the jejemon class is transforming the socio-economic-political landscape

I don't keep up with the Joneses although I go along with good practices such as staying fit and keeping yards/driveway trimmed and clean.

The only things close to keeping up with the Joneses that I've seen among my neighbors are:

    1. The amount of Christmas lights and electric displays outside during the holidays.

    2. Someone bought a V8 pony car and now, fully half of the households on our street have at least one.
