Oo nga bro., I agree...Nerd is in...- Pero, for someone who is wearing eyeglasses, for almost 2/3 of his life,- and who looks "funny" without one, especially when you go swimming, IMO, it is unquestionably an advantage not to be wearing one....

I'm a frustrated gardener/farmer. We went to QC yesterday and bought some flowers for home and some vegetables to plant.

No, you dont have a black thumb. Basil and other leafy herbs i.e. tarragon, rosemary, mint et al, that are for sale in Tagaytay inside Mahogany market or on the roadside, need relatively cool weather (just like in Tagaytay) to grow properly. The heat of Metro Manila is a killer for these plants, if you want to grow them, place the plants under a shade and provide lots of water, early morning and early evening watering. Plus a mist sprayer is needed, this will cool down the exterior of the plant (leaves, stems), so as it will not wilt and dry up.

Some orchids for the living room

The cut flower business is a huge money earner (not too many people know about that). Vanda's, Vanda Teret's, Dendrobiums, African Violets, Anthuriums, to name a few, are expensive in florist shops.

If you have a bit of space, this is another good hobby worth looking into. ;)

We buy Orchids regularly but when the flowers wilt, the plant does not flower again e. So frustrating BTW It's so cute that you know all about orchids? Are you into the business? Good thing our fruit trees don't give us problems naman.

Orchids (not the motel) need a spray of fertilizer once in awhile (twice a month) to keep the plants healthy and in check. Try Gaviota, for "all-around" fertilizer requirements, and Orchid Bloom, to stimulate/induce the budding of flowers.

I've heard about Gaviota. I think we used that na, but not Orchid Bloom. My Mom buys the Siam brand. Never really worked well for us.

Siam brand is malabnaw when used as directed. Add another 50% over what is prescribed, for good results. Ex: 2 tablespoons/1litre of water, make it 3 tablespoons for the same amount of water.

I think Orchid Bloom is available in Cartimar.

Mahal pa ba yan? P200 kasi yung Vanda, the rest P75 lang which is super cheap na. I think it costs at least P100 sa Mall. We bought 6 kaya we were able to haggle down to P75 each.
