yeah, dating quantum sila if i recall correctly.
i've experienced kasi with a major US computer seller na almost all drives i've encountered that fail were western digital ones. like about 95%. and some fail as early as a day after getting the system.

December 12th, 2005 11:27 PM #32i have a bad experienced with Samsung Hard Disk. palpak, daling masira.
glenster: if i were u, i'll take the IDE/PATA hard disk since you u would connect it via usb, bka dpa supported ng mobo( for ur notebook and pc) yng SATA. bili ka na lang ng 3.5" enclosure para neat tignan kaso medyo malaki at bulky yan.
ok sana yng mga 2.5 enclosure + notebook hard disk kso la pa atang malalaking storage capacity, yng nkita ko sa grinhills - 60Gb lng. i have this 40 GB, assemble lang.

December 12th, 2005 11:36 PM #34ur safe sa IDE. backward compatible nman ang mga pc - meaning khit pa 5 years from now, pde mo pang magamit yang IDE hard disk mo.
from what i know, very evident sa mga full blown mobo ang SATA ngayn, dko lang alam kng ginagamit na yan sa notebook -- usually late ng onti sa mga notebook. kng medyo luma na notebook mo, malamang d nya supported yan.
Best is check the hardware spec's ng pc/notebook mo.

December 12th, 2005 11:48 PM #36yes i know sir.
things that you have to think:
1. you still have to check kng me usb to sata adaptor para sa HD SATA mo. usually usb to IDE lng(this is included sa casing) at usb to IDE adaptor lng ang nkikita ko. correct me if i'm wrong mga peeps!
2. ma-rerecognize ba ng NB mo yng sata technology.

a SATA cable is thinner than IDE/PATA. eto yung sata:
so compatibility-wise, you'll run into physical fit issues at the moment unless your mobo supports SATA. pero from http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/Serial_ATA.html, "Serial ATA supports all ATA and ATAPI devices. "
