We talk about the 80's like the earlier generations talked about the 70s and 60s.

The younger ones talk about the 90s like we do the 80s.

It's always the same. Everybody's talking 'bout the good old days, looking back with fondness -they were good, but never too old, always of happier times and simpler lives.

It is almost always your younger years that define who you are, hence we remember.

It probably explains why I have more albums of older artists and why I don't listen to the radio as much.

    The 80's..........

I guess my version of the 80's were a bit different from the norm in the Philippines especially when it came to music:

    Early-mid 80's music:
Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA
    John Cougar - Pink Houses
Sammy Hagar - I'll Fall In Love Again
    Judas Priest - Turbo
*** Pistols - too many to mention
U2 - Gloria to Street With No Name
    The Alarm - Strength
Joy Division - New Dawn Fades
    ZZ Top - Delirious
The Outfield - all of em

    Later 80's music:
    The Cult
    Tesla
    Guns n Roses
    Bon Jovi
    Motley Crue
    Bruce Hornsby
    Alice In Chains

Plain white high cut Reeboks basketball shoes
The start of my love for Levis 501 jeans
    Amigas
    Apple IIGS
    Tandy PC
Amiga Falcon head to head via null modem
    Starblazers
    Star Wars Sourcebooks

    Popped my cherry

Hehe Batang 80's din ako...ayan nabisto na! Enjoyed reading all your replies and brought back lots of good memoriesAno pa ba? Let's see...Yung Go-Kart sa Glorietta, skip pa namin school bus pag uwian para makalakwatsa at enjoy dito...Na ang tugtog sa mga school programs, di mawawala ang "Let's Get Physical", tapos nauso din mga strut dance at showdown which eventually led to the intro of rap music.Games - Atari, Game & WatchMalls - Ali Mall pa lang nun at Glorietta...Ang Greenhills nun may mini-train around the pond...ang theme park nun ay Fiesta Carnival...at okey pa mamasyal sa Luneta (Children's park, Japanes at Chinese Garden) at maglakad sa Grand Stand.Hanggang ngayun naka-top siders pa din ako...sarap suotin kahit saang lakad at di namimili ng porma, shorts o jeans or khaki lang swak na swak pa din...heheAround EDSADalawa ang way going to Baclaran - via Redemptorist or Tramo lang, wala pang EDSA Extn hanggang Rotunda lang. From Pasay to Monumento eto mga dadaanan mong stop lights (note: wala pang flyovers or underpass)Tramo, Malibay, Pasay Road, Ayala Avenue, Buendia, Crossing (pero pede na sa ilalim), Ortigas, White Plains, Boni Serrano, P. Tuazon, Cubao (pede na sa ilalim), New York St., Kamias, Timog/East Avenue, Quezon Avenue (may Rotonda pa dito), North Avenue, Munoz.Later na lang yung iba...isip pa

Same here... I barely use the radio of my car. Puro CD's lang.
I'm not really purely stuck with 80's bands though (but I do have a stack of New Order, Joy Division, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran cd's in my glove compartment). However, my choice of modern music is still heavily influenced by the sounds and lyrics of the 80's. (E.g. Techno synth, etc.)
