yup, medicine is a business. so is engineering, chemistry, biology, law, etc. so don't ecpect doctors and the hospitals they work in to treat you for free. you are responsible for your own upkeep. it is wrong to rely on others more fortunate to be your keeper. sariling sikap, wag maging mendicant.
 PROBONO or Volunteer ,Gratis yata ang tawag doon sa non-profit service, who still finds the way to their heart to render service without returns.

BTW> Ang masusunod dyan ay ang Doctor, the decision is based on his discretion and experties. Thats why we have to put our trust & confidence on them.

Tama si Pareng Wiretap_md... natumbok mo lahat dude!!!....

Pareng Wiretap are you a Medical Doctor? how about Dude Shintaro?

i think the better word for pro bono (pro = for, bono = good, which is the term used by lawyers for rendering free service, but also apply to other professions) will be "charity", or if you want a better christian term, "sharing".

kaso lang nga, ang condition ng charity or sharing is that you can afford it. unfortunately that is not the case most of the time.

doctors still do charity. you only need to go to the different hospitals and check who have availed of social service (DSWD) and you'll find out that their doctors hardly charge a fee.

btw, there are more doctors who are poor than doctors who are rich. maybe you think all doctors are rich kasi sa mga rich doctors kayo nagpapagamot, kasi rich din kayo hehehehehe! open your eyes and you will see...

house calls? namputcha naman, can you imagine doctors making house calls in metro manila? traffic noh!

Basta ako pagnanalo ng Lotto-Magpapatayo ako ng mga 'Free Outpatient Clinics sa lugar ng mahihirap-as in 'Free' pati gamot...What's the use of prescribing meds to the poor kung wala din namang maibibili ng gamot yung mga tao,Di ba?!

Regarding'Poor'Doctors, I think it depends on what you mean by 'Poor'.In the first place di naman makapagdoktor ang tao kung walang maitutustos-saka ang unang ginagawa ng doktor pag nagprivate practice yung tinatawag na 'Packaging' at siyempre representasyon.I doubt kung may Doktor na gustong magmukhang kawawa sa pasyente...meron man, wala naman sigurong pakkukunsulta dun kung mukha pang may sakit sa pasyente,heh,heh,heh...

    hmmm interesting

Doc Philip, would it be possible that there were no room vacancies, so hindi na binigyan ng diagnosis yung patient as this would probably lead to billing problems?

pajerokid: Nope. No patient can be discharged from the ER without a diagnosis - more so if the patient is given a referral form for transfer to a hospital of choice.
