Taekwondo ITF style, finally back in the Philippines!

You read it right! Finally! Taekwondo, International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) style is FINALLY BACK in the Philippines!!! Actually, they've been around since last year. It is under the name Philippine International Taekwondo Federation (PITF).

Back in the 80's, there were ITF schools in Manila. But for some unwanted circumstances, they just died out.

Currently, the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) style is more popular under which the Philippine Taekwondo Federation is affiliated. It is the kind of style you see in the Olympics. But, ITF has a different approach. In competitions, less body armour is used. Only gloves and feet gloves (whatever it is called) are used. Strikes on the head area are allowed. However, in training (as I have gathered) strikes to the head is only allowed for blackbelts.

Although the PITF just started last year, it boasts of having affiliated member school/chapters from Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Antipolo, Marikina and Las Piñas City.
