    Salamat!

Common sense naman ang prevention eh, but if it does happen, depending on the type of house you have, the accessibility of fire extiguishers and firemen will dictate whether you lose some stuff or everything is gone....

If you want peace of mind, get fire insurance...

usually pag may malapit na kadikit na house.

    - kung may wall in between dapat naka-firewall

    - kung wala or kung meron din, dapat yun ceiling sa gilid naka hardiflex or gympsum board material.

yun bubong kahit yero dapat pinturado ng fire-proof type of paint from what I can recall. para kahit may maghagis ng sawa sa bubong nyo, maiwasan.

    - and last but not least, iwasan ang abubot sa house. mga kahon ng appliance computers etc... pagkain sa sunog yun.

ngaun kung internal problem naman like faulty wiring, medyo hirap detect yan lalo na kung luma na. pero usually this can prevented kung naka-enclose sa metal tubing ang mga wires and the ceilings are made of gympsum or hardiflex material.

and also I forgot, buy at least two fire extinguishers. one located near the gas tank area. and one located near the electrical breaker area.

Ok din mag-invest sa smoke alarm. '96 pa yung mga alarm namin (First Alert) pero wala pang bumibigay. Just change the 9V batteries when it starts beeping slowly. Nasa box naman kung saan ka dapat maglagay ng smoke alarm (as per U.S. building codes).

Minsan promo pa sila. Either makakamura ka sa maramihan or may kasamang fire extinguisher. Meron ding gas leak at carbon monoxide detector ang First Alert. Kamukha din ng smoke detector ang hitsura. Yung gas leak pang-kusina, yung carbon monoxide pang-garahe.

Nung highschool ako nagpunta sila sa school and nag-demo pa.

This once almost happened to us! Kinain ng daga yung wires and it caused a short. Namatay yung breaker pero siyempre binuhay uli namin. Nung 2nd time na pina-check ko sa electrician yung buong linya at nakitang tunaw na a large portion of the wiring and the rest was exposed due to the rat bites! Mabuti hindi nagtuloy yung apoy and I insisted na i-check yung buong line and not just the panel.

Parang mabigat naman kung steel tube yung pangbalot after kasi mabigat. Tsaka wooden yung roof structure nung house kaya di ko mapagawang hardiflex without major cost kaya binalot na lang ng 'royal tube' (whatever that is -- the orange thingy) yung wiring.

Sana kung hardiflex. na-try ko na yan -- talagang hindi siya nasusunog. Now I always use it for new kisame requirements.

this is not a good idea.. if a fire did break out, and the fire exitinguishers are located near the source of fire, you might not be able to reach the firex to use them. put them where they can be easily reached.
