MRT crisis: SoKor firm backs out of maintenance contract
By Coconuts Manila January 6, 2016 / 11:14 PHT
This is, literally, a train wreck.
Last December the government awarded a three-year MRT maintenance contract to a South Korean Firm without public bidding.
This week the group declined the contract. "The South Koreans are reportedly worried about lawsuits that the company may face in connection with the deal that was awarded through negotiated procurement after the DOTC claimed the existence of an 'emergency'," reports Philstar.com,
Too bad, since the Department of Transportation and Communication actually believes that the firm, Busan Transport Corp, has the technical expertise.
This development means the MRT is now an orphan.
The previous contractor, Schunk Bahn-und Industreitechnik-Comm Buolders and Technology Philippines, ended their contract on Jan 4.
The company claims DOTC paid them only PHP28 million of the PHP131 million agreed upon for their six-month contract.
DOTC has reportedly asked the German-Filipino group to extend its services for a month, but it also declined.
We are in deep ****.

January 6th, 2016 03:11 PM #215the japanese were, i believe,doing a good job.
then someone had the brilliant idea, that someone else could run it just as well, at a fraction of the price.
well, in a way, they were right... a fraction of the price, but no maintenance..
i'm wondering why they can't throw those responsible, in jail.
that's economic sabotage!

This will help eliminate the long lines in getting into MRT. Walang ng tren so wala ng pipilahan. And that is brought to you by Abnoy admin masterminded by the great pABAYA.
Dapat dito kay pABAYA, bitayin at sequester lahat ng pagaari. Pinasweldo + perks & benefits from tax payers money and he did nothing but screw up.
i know, po. kaming nasa southbound sshiway ang na-agrabyado. i seriously think those TEs are in...
Traffic!
