It's not about improving the services of the MRT, because only those in Metro Manila benefit from that. What I expect is that because the government will be spending less on the MRT, they should be able to focus more on other matters that can benefit the country as a whole.

Most of the opinions I read online on this issue are veru Manila-centric.

Tapos MRT naman from Cubao to North Ave.

From my experience, mahina aircon ng LRT 2. Considering that it isn't cramped, I still find myself sweating inside the train. The new LRT1 trains (black and yellow) are much cooler even when filled with rush hour traffic.

The MRT was cold back in high school, but when I entered college, some trains had broken AC already. Now, most of them have poor AC.

I think yung luma na LRT 1 train yung nasakyan ko kasi I noticed na medyo dirty white na yung kulay niya sa loob and hindi connected yung 2 trains (unlike sa LRT 2 na pwede ka maglakad from one car to another without going outside).

I agree with MRT though medyo mahina na yung aircon nila.

Hundreds stranded as MRT train conks out
    INQUIRER.net 12:44 PM | Tuesday, April 21st, 2015

Hundreds of Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) passengers were stranded Tuesday noon after one of its trains experienced a technical glitch, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported.

Passengers had just boarded a train at the North Avenue Station at about 11:50 a.m. when they were told to get off.

April Roselle Lilagan, who was on her way to work, told INQUIRER.net the announcement dismayed her, since she was already late for work.

Lilagan said MRT personnel said there was a technical problem but did not give details.

INQUIRER.net has tried to contact MRT-3 management but has not received a response as of posting time. NC/CB

Only 5 MRT trains running; long lines at stations

Only 5 trains are running as of 12 pm, down from the usual 10 to 15 ...

I've just shared an article from the Rappler Website: Only 5 MRT trains running; long lines at stations

At this early coming from Boni to Buendia unusual na heavy agad ang traffic.

    Dahil kaya sa MRT?

Kaawa talaga mga commuter ng MRT tiis na lang talaga ang choice.

Kumuha pa daw sa labas dahil walang nakatabing refrigerant...

Repairs force MRT to run on 5 trains, fewest since 1999 - CNN Philippines

According to Renato San Jose, MRT-3 director for operations, the trains were taken to the depot for air-conditioning repairs.

Given the hot weather, the MRT sought to fix problems with air-conditioning quickly, but maintenance provider APT Global Inc. lacked a substantial supply of refrigerants.

"Before lunch, we discovered that the temperature inside some of the trains changed. That's why we had to pull them out," said San Jose, who was referring to a spike in temperature brought about by Metro's scorching heat — which reached 34 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

According to protocol, even if only one car would indicate a higher temperature, the entire train would have to be taken back to the depot for repairs.

    Long queues
More than 10,000 passengers were affected as entry in stations were controlled past noon. Some braved long queues and even longer waiting periods.

As of 1:00 p.m., seven trains were operational, but the number still wasn't enough for the thousands of passengers who were expecting a hassle-free commute.

Global APT, on the other hand, clarified that the undersupply of refrigerants wasn't caused by a lack of foresight. Instead, the maintenance provider blamed the month-to-month contract that limited them from purchasing materials in bulk.

In a day, the about three to four instances of air-conditioning problems are met by Global APT.

Meanwhile, 14 to 15 trains were expected to be running by Tuesday evening.

Global APT will face a penalty of P60,000 to P80,000 per coach for trains undelivered. Ideally, there should be 20 trains running on peak hours.

Sumasakay ka ba ng MRT/LRT?
