Increase gas prices by the big 3? Why not go past them and gas up in your nearest Total, Flying V, Seaoil, Unioil. If you have other reasons in buying gas from Petron, Shell or Caltex, your call.
Manileños losing their job? Some will lose and some will gain in another location perhaps.
What about the profit of the Big3, dealers, etc, how come nobody has the guts to even admit that this is what they are really trying to preserve? Money money money - billions of them.
These are arguments in preservation of property.
The SC decision takes life into consideration..."Right to life enjoys precedence over the right to property" according to their decision.

May 15th, 2009 07:25 PM #54in this case, it just so happens na big 3 ang may depot sa pandacan... but in any locality, regardless kung big player o small player... they will still have their own depots... from a business point of view, depending on the volume ng benta ng oil player, malalaman kung gaano kalaki ang gagawing depot in any location... pag mas maliit.. less ang risk... pag mas malaki.. definitely mas malaki ang risk... but a depot, regardless of any size will still be a risk.. mag de depende na lang sa laki ng depot... should all LGUs enact an ordinance na bawal magtayo ng depot to preserve life?

May 15th, 2009 07:31 PM #55idagdag ko pa... right to life has a price... right to property has a price also... in the short term kapag preserved ang status quo.. i guess the price to pay will be told in time.. kapag talagang naging victim ng attack or accident ang area.. and then everybody will say "sabi na nga ba.. "... kapag naman lumipat sila.. in the short term also... may kapalit yun.. safety nga sa lugar... safety ang mga nakatira sa area... but pagbabayaran din iyon in some other way (higher prices, longer lines at pump retail, unstable supply perhaps).. basta may kapalit pa rin yan..

May 17th, 2009 05:45 PM #56Atienza dares Lim: Veto oil depot measure
Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines—Environment Secretary and former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza on Saturday challenged current Mayor Alfredo Lim to veto City Ordinance No. 7177, which would pave the way for the continued stay in the city of oil depots and other major industries.
For her part, Councilor Ma. Lourdes Isip-Garcia threatened to file charges against Lim should he decide to sign the controversial measure.
Lim has yet to sign the proposed ordinance, which creates zones for medium and heavy industries in Manila, into law.
Lim said he had not made up his mind on the issue although he said that health and public safety would be his primary considerations vis-à-vis the fate of the city’s major industries.
“Now is the time for Mayor Lim to show genuine concern for Manilans after residents and other affected sectors expressed their overwhelming rejection of the local legislation which welcomes what (the majority councilors) termed as the “most pollutive and extremely hazardous” industries in the capital city, Atienza said in a statement.
Atienza also admonished Vice Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and the city’s majority councilors for “railroading” Ordinance 7177, saying their move was “highly irresponsible.”
“The new ordinance will definitely put Manileños at great risk, and at the same time negate efforts of the national government to rehabilitate the country’s important water bodies, including the Pasig River,” the former mayor added.
“I’m seriously contemplating charging him (Lim) if he signs it,” Garcia told the Inquirer. “I’m still studying it, but he could be charged with grave abuse of discretion because he’s signing an illegal ordinance.” Tina G. Santos

Ayos sa psy-war si Atienza ah. It's his fault why those depots are still there.
Being the nemesis of Lim, he could've been paid to do a psywar. Tell Lim in public the opposite of what he wants done, Lim, if he lets pride get the best of him, will fall into the trap and actually sign the stupid ordinance into law.
The eviction of those depots is long overdue. Kaya hindi malinis ang Pasig river because of the factories in its banks.
This is all about money. Bottomline all leads to money. Mukhang pera talaga yung mga nakaupo. hehehe. Ang sarap maging businessman sa ganitong bansa where authority can be slapped with a bundle of money to look the other way all the time.
Kakatawa din itong mga councilors, kunwari concerned sa mga citizens nila. hahahaha! Mga ungas, nabayaran lang kayo. Magkano lang ba isa sa mga yan. With billions of oil profit money, oil companies can even make them sell their citizens through an ordinance. :bwahaha:
Ganyan kabulok ang mga tao Govt na ito. Except siguro mga ilang tao lang na wala pang sampu. I've been exposed far too long to this type of animals. Scientific name: Homo Corruptus.
