Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin presumed dead after Russia plane crash - BBC News

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list of a jet which crashed killing all on board, Russia's civil aviation authority has said.

Earlier, Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone reported that the private plane, which belonged to the 62-year-old, was shot down by air defences.

Grey Zone posted later on Wednesday that Prigozhin died "as a result of actions of traitors of Russia".

Prigozhin led a failed mutiny against the Russian armed forces in June.

The crash comes on the same day that senior Russian general Sergei Surovikin was reportedly sacked as air force chief.

one has to remember though that these f16s the Danes and the dutch are donating are already 20 ++ years old (kaya they've been wheeling & dealing to replace & get those (probably discounted) f35s w/c the USA is understandably very picky to whom they'll be selling to). So it's not really a quantum leap of sorts for those experienced Ukrainian air force pilots.

And also the Russian pilot corp has already suffered enormous losses since the start of the war. Their ranks of seasoned flyers have been considerably decimated. This means that a large number of russkie flyboys are as wet behind the ears as their neighboring counterparts.

Speaking of flyboys, a Russian mi-8 helicopter pilot just recently defected to ukraine supposedly carrying aircraft supplies. Its crew was reportedly eliminated w/ the pilot being the lone survivor because he was the one supposedly in cahoots w/ the enemy.
