jamming tayo. i play the drums too. dito ako medyo bihasa na. underwent formal training too before with Yamaha and the drum player of the Dawn.

i'm not sure if taking a lesson is really an advantage. my cousins(who are well-off) took piano, guitars etc. but still could'nt play as good kasi by-the-book sila masyado. while me and my brod just started strumming my tito's old guitar and now i can say we are better than our cousins, in fact my brod used to be the lead guitarist of a famous band in angeles city. he never used tablatures read notes, puro "kapa" lang sa kanya kaya sariling diskarte. he can also play a guitar na binaliktad ( taas yung lead strings, baba yung bass), pero simple lead lang.

so depende sa tao yon. may tao na lahit alang formal lessons madaling matuto kasi may "wido" sila.

i could be wrong, but i'm not really sure if guitar masters like satriani, vai, gilbert and clapton ever went to guitar schools (even music icons like beatles u2 and stones).

anyway i also collect guitars, got 2 les pauls ( 70's greco and epiphone snake pitt), 3 acoustics(classical lumanog(first guitar), yamaha taylor-type and a turtle-back ovation) and 2 amps.

hehe naku bro sobrang kalawang na ng daliri ko! once a year na lang ako makahawak ng gitara! parating keyboard at mouse na kasi hawak ko sa trabaho. I used to do 6 string arpeggios (6 string sweep) and clocking my hands around 180-200 notes per minute. yun isa namin kasama eh 220 yata to 230 and tumutugtog pa rin sya ngayon. marami din ako tropa nag-mellow na at nag-mainstream. medyo exposed talaga ako since high school. SA uplb member ako ng jammers then sa ama qc yun SON naman tinayo namin, mga musikero lahat. anyway ang importante eh yun feel nung kanta at hindi yun technicality, that is why i prefer the blues when playing! napaka-soulful ang dating sa gitarista :rockf::rockf:

eto pinapraktis ko ngaun .... you are encouraged to dance in front of your PC

    top of the world

Such a feeling coming over me
There is wonder in the things I see
Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes
    And I won't be surprised if it's a dream
Everything I want the world to be
Is coming true especially for me
And the reason is clear, it's because you are here
You're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen

On the top of the world looking down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around
Your love put me on the top of the world
    Top of the world
    Top of the world
    Top of the world

Something in the wind has learned my name
Telling me that things are not the same
In the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze
There's a pleasant sense of happiness for me

There is only one wish on my mind
When this day is through I hope I'll find
Tomorrow will be the same for you and me
All I need will be mine if you are here

    Charm attack

    He's the kind of guy
    Who's always passin' by
Who never has time to spend
And he'll take you for a spin
    And won't look within
To find out who you are
And he numbs himself with weed
    He's from the coldest breed
Who judge by what they see
    And I thought he was
    Smart enough to know
That the girl on his arm
    Will never calm his storms
    Watch out, he'll charm you

    Chorus:
    Smoother than the L.A. weather
That's how he holds himself together
He is colder than the winter
I wrap my coat around to better
    Counteract his charm attack
    That leaves me hungry
    Well, I'm no savior
But I tried to save you
    With all my love
    that rages high inside.

    And he has his minions
    With no real opinions
'Cause they all walk on glass
And your lies become the truth
And give me the proof that you really care
    With your gorgeous grin
You have the world sucked in
    Believin' in everything you say
    Watch out, he'll charm you

    Chorus(2x)

And he stamps on every emotion
And he dampens each and every explosion
    (repeat)

i think better to take lessons afterwards when you really decide to take guitar playing seriously, had an instructor who can play heavy metal riff -to finger sweep leads -to spanish flamencos, man was he good but he was high 50% of the time

im with badsekktor, i play blues licks mostly nowadays since my fingers arent that fast anymore

    my gear at home
washburn n2 (nuno bettencourt model) electric
    washburn acoustic guitar
    yamaha classical guitar
80watt marshal tube amp with overdrive
    wah pedal
    korg g1 toneworks effects box
fender 200watt bass amp with chorus

just recently sold my washburn bantam bass and of course...2 lumanog guitars

    Same with simplicity

Been playing the guitar for years. By ear lang ang pag-aaral ko. Di naman kasi uso nung panahon ko yung formal lessons.
I tried to self-study ng classical kasi type ko tugtugin mga solo jazz. Mahirap lang isustain ang interest sa formal lessons. If you can practice patience to learn the guitar then it would be better for you in the long run. Mag youtube ka kay Tuck Andres (Man in the mirror) to have an idea.

But if i had to learn the guitar all over again, i'll take formal lessons.

Anyway okey naman ang natutunan ko. I play sa church every sunday with a choir.
    Good luck on your playing.

vai and hammett took lessons from satriani. srv took informal lessons from bb king
