Frozen with snow isn't bad. Temperature is probably around +20F (-7C). Lots of people play outside when it's 20F.
Now, frozen with no snow is bad like the time we hit -40F (-40C) back in New York (2013). Too cold for snow and my car wouldn't even start until the sun came out and warmed up the hood.

Testing the Canon Vixia HF R600. Took a single frame from a random AVCHD clip and edited it a bit. The video seems a little bit better than the 1080p clips from my wife's smartphone. Also, some local vegetation.....

The zoom is okay. 32x optical zoom, 57x with a combo optical/digital zoom (I think), 1140x digital zoom. I'll try it out later in day time.
My old Sony Handycam MiniDV camcorder has a 20x optical zoom and 800x digital zoom which is also okay. But, it requires Firewire to transfer videos to the PC and the waiting time is 1:1. My only PC with Firewire is on its way out. I bought a 64 GB Class 10 SD card for the Vixia. That should be plenty for 102 minutes (battery life).
The zoom is good enough to catch the moon. I have to fiddle with the Vixia and find the optimal settings for moon videos like this one:

The low-light performance is also poor compared to the Sony and Panasonic competition. But, they're also +3x the cost. It doesn't get that much more entry-level with the Vixia R600. But, it does the job well enough. I have a thing for entry-level. My old Canon DSLR is also the lowest in its class.
Time to change the batteries on the wireless keyboard. It's starting to skip.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; March 1st, 2016 at 11:42 PM.

Oh I see! That explains why the brembo pads seem to have a different design. The original Akebono...
