December 15th, 2010 10:49 AM #167guys... nahihilig ang daughter ko sa photography. nagsasawa na raw sa digicam and now she wants to have a dslr. ano ma-recommend nyo na brand and model? she's got two choices now in mind... canon 550d and nikon d3100.
1. based on the mentioned brand and models, do you recommend any other brand?
2. ok bang bumili ng kit or just the body lang tapos bili ng separate lens according to preference.
3. what is the price difference kung bibili ako locally (manila) or outside the philippines?

^ Wala naman sa brand yan Sir. Nasa gumagamit din kasi ang quality ng pictures. Kahit ga'no kamahal or ka-high end yung DSLR mo kung kahit basic photography eh di mo gamay, wala rin. Marami rito na ang units, yung entry level lang (or yung P&S), pero astig ang mga shots.
Ok na yung, camera + kit lens. Saka na lang bumili ng mga additional lens at accesories, pero kung may budget, bakit hindi.
Compare nyo muna prices sa Hidalgo against yung price abroad. Pero madalas mas mura sa abroad, kesa atin. Ngayon, baka may X-Mas sale sa atin, check mo, Bro.

buy the kit muna and hayaan mo sya mag-experiment using the kit lens. pag medyo experienced na, saka mo lang bilhan ng additional lens - pero depende din ito sa preference nya. meron kasi lenses na prime, macro, telephoto, etc. madami choices for different types of shots. so yeah, buy the kit first to get her feet wet in DSLr shooting.
regarding the brand, pareho naman maganda ang Nikon and Canon. it's just a matter of personal preference. so bring your daughter to the shops and let her handle the camera and test the controls to see what she likes better.
as for the price, you can do comparisons online naman; pero when i was in HK and Macau, madami ako kasabay na pinoy looking around and buying in camera shops. really cheaper there so, personally, i'll wait for travel opportunities and just buy my stuff - camera and other gadgets - there.

December 16th, 2010 01:03 PM #170thanks for your replies. ok will do that. however, i've noticed the online prices from hongkong is almost same with the prices in hidalgo. my concern from purchasing units from abroad is the warranty. is there a thing called "international warranty" on dslr's?
Oh I see! That explains why the brembo pads seem to have a different design. The original Akebono...
