Anyone remember the Tropical Palace at BF Paranaque? I can't seem to find it Google Maps. Just wondering because I used to go there a lot.

It's still there but not a hotel anymore. As I recall, a religious group leases it.

Yup, I remember that alley as we used to take it to go to Philam Village on our bicycles....

Those were the days.... Taking the back roads from our place to RFC via Balagtas/Manggahan > Greenview/Manuela and then to Fernando's in Philam....

Fernando's is not there anymore. A building is now being erected where it used to be.....

Tropical Palace got burned down in a fire, and was subsequently abandoned.

You lived in the South? I have friends who live near the area and I refuse to drive there alone at night hehe

I haven't gone back in over 10 years. Is it still there? Abandoned?

Yep, grew up there until Grade 6. Then I went to Pisay so we moved up north.

I remember Fernando's as well. It was the first supermarket I know of which sold freshly cooked burgers. Giant ones too.

One of the things I did every Saturday morning was play in a HS soccer league at UST. Once I got back, I went swimming at the Philamlife pool during the afternoon.

If you passed by the Riguera's place, then you probably passed by our place too.

Other things I remembered...... Shakey's Pizza with live bands. A couple of my female cousins (from here) also spent several months there. They're Caucasian in appearance. Every HS boy for miles around kept trying to get a glimpse of them. They liked it too. I mean they wouldn't live there forever. But, they wouldn't mind visiting. They visited some more since, staying at my mom's place.

Not sure why Cathy's apprehensive about the place. Are we talking about the same location in Las Pinas?

Ruffa and Mike don't think so. They use the ruins as a prop.

It's a shame though. A couple friends of mine and I sometimes ate or went swimming there. Both of them are long gone now. I think they both moved back to the US a couple of years before I did.

For a while,- there were some organized fishing activities in that area. Not sure these days.....

That area is about a kilometer away from our place.... (again, our 'backyard')....
