yes per set. the problem with extension tubes is focus distance becomes varying, you get more magnification in lower focal lengths but working distance also diminishes. ive tried it on my tamron 17-50 and i cannot stack all three at 50mm since focus distance is so near the subject will hit the front lens. best result is at 70-200 at 70mm, focus distance is around 3-4in. based on what ive read, 50mm prime is the best lens for this, it will also give greater magnification than my 70mm

True. 50mm is the best. Tried doing a macro coupling (18-55 normal mount coupled with 50mm reverse mounted), ang ganda ng results. Yun nga lang, may vignetting. I tried also reversing the 50mm and maganda siya talaga.
In macro, the lesser the focal length, the greater the magnification, mas mahirap kumuha ng picture.Last edited by testament11; October 27th, 2010 at 02:21 PM.

actually there is no loss in IQ when shooting ext tubes because you are not adding any lens but simply just extending your lens from the body, i doubt air can distort the image
reverse lens is the cheapest and easiest way kaso im just not confident exposing the inner part of the lensand the setup looks flimsy hehe
ive compared shots with a canon 100mm macro and my 70200+kets and there is no discernable difference in magnification, there is tho the difference in weight haha
