I wonder how much it would cost to dine at Nobu Manila I'm curious too if it will be a success. If only they located in Makati/BGC and partnered with the Ayalas?

Nobu Hotel to debut in Asia at City of Dreams in Manila

MANILA, Philippines—Nobu Hotel, inspired by Japanese culinary genius Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, is making its debut in Asia as Macau gaming giant Melco is set to introduce a 321-room hotel under his brand as part of its gaming and entertainment hub City of Dreams Manila.

The upcoming Nobu hotel is envisioned to deliver a “thrilling, celebrity-inspired and fun-luxury experience fused with utmost quality” to the Philippine gaming hub, Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corp. said in a press statement on Monday.

The boutique hotel in City of Dreams Manila is backed by Academy-award winning actor Robert de Niro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper. This is the second hotel brand to be announced as part of the $1.3-billion City of Dreams Manila, a partnership between Melco and the SM group of tycoon Henry Sy.

The new hotel will offer “laid-back luxury, high-energy nightlife” and spa services alongside its guest rooms, Melco said, adding that this would be the ultimate playground for a Filipino, Asian and international client base.
As a unique offering and as promised by its branding, the hotel is seen as the ideal destination to experience the cuisine of Chef Nobu. The hotel will feature a Nobu Restaurant within an idyllic setting including an outdoor cabana-style dining terrace situated on an exclusive platform deck with views of Manila Bay.

The hotel will offer, exclusively to its guests, a special in-room menu crafted by Chef Nobu. In addition, guests will enjoy the Nobu Tea Lounge in the lobby.

Born and raised in Japan, Matsuhisa, who is more popularly known as Chef Nobu, apprenticed in the sushi bars of Tokyo before he ventured overseas to Lima, Peru. He ventured to Buenos Aires, Argentina, then back to Japan, Alaska, and finally, Los Angeles, where he opened his titular restaurant in 1987.

After making waves in the Los Angeles and New York restaurant scene, Chef Nobu has since then opened many more Nobu restaurants worldwide. The first Nobu Hotel opened in 2013 as a boutique hotel within Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas

There will always be high-end clients. Just look at Aubergine and the Black Sheep.

Hopefully, they won't charge 500 pesos for 1L of Fiji Water. Naaliw nalang kami sa water bill namin dati... we consumed 3 bottles -- Php1,500 down the drain on springwater dining expense alone

Went to Solaire once, the place was reeking of moneyed high rollers (or good acting SC's???) that I felt out of place. Mas lalo na siguro dito.

These places are not for the average 8 hours a day sweat shop laborers.

Robert DeNiro’s Nobu Hotel Manila named worst luxury hotel of 2015 | Fox News

Robert DeNiro’s Nobu Hotel Manila named worst luxury hotel of 2015
    Published December 14, 2015FoxNews.com

Robert DeNiro may be one of the best actors of his generation but when it comes to the hospitality industry, the star apparently has a lot to learn.

Nobu Hotel Manila, which is co-owned by the actor, chef Nobu Matshuhisa and movie producer Meir Teper, was named as the worst new luxury hotel of 2015 by Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI), a members-only group that touts membership comprised of jetsetters and high net worth individuals, on their annual best and worst new hotels list.

DeNiro, who has worked with the lauded Japanese chef in his growing restaurant empire, was not able to translate the high-end eatery experience to the hotel at the City of Dreams complex in Manila, the Philippines, which officially opened in May.

According to Blouin Art Info, which received an early release of the LTI report, members were “underwhelmed and disenchanted” by the property which had “disappointments at every turn.”

Rooms at the 5-star property start at $164 for a regular deluxe room and $400 for a Nobu Suite with city views.

Joining Nobu Hotel Manila at the top of the worst list was the newly opened Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius, in east Africa described as “being opened well before it was ready.” After extensive renovations, the hotel still found the hotel to have “poor service and inadequate staff training plus a distinct impression that management is not present.”

The worst new luxury hotels 2015

    1. Nobu, Manilla
    2. Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok, Mauritius
    3. St Regis, Mumbai
    4. Zaya Nurai, Abu Dhabi
    5. Edition, Miami Beach
    6. Lanesborough, London
