I remember when I did my own maintenance (bearings, brake rotors/pads, fluid change, filters, etc), particularly with my carburated cars such as my 1976 Trans Am and 1986 Nissan Pulsar NX. It took a lot of my time. But, it saved me a lot of money. But, once onboard computers and EFI became common? I quit. With new cars nowadays, I'll still change a flat tire and maybe an air filter. But, that's it.
