If it's a good leather jacket, it would require less maintenance, just hang it on a hanger, and don't just throw it in a corner. It also depends on the quality, wayy back in 93, my dad bought a leather jacket at Pisa, Italy during a christmas break trip. he bought it for about $30, the quality wasn't great. After 3months, the leather began cracking and the material inside began sneaking out, wrinkles would cause the leather to crack even more making the leather jacket look raggedy.
I bought a leather jacket a few years ago, it's of good quality, the only problem is, the leather is thin, and in the back, i hit something or bumped into something causing a slight tear, i can easily fix that, but, overall, the jacket is good.
for me, the quality of the leather is the key, if the quality of the leather is good, you shouldn't have to maintain it as much. but if you bought cheap quality leather, then, the leather will deteriorate eventually even if you do maintain it, it's a lose/lose situation.

a good and genuine leather doesnt break or crack if stored properly, cool dry place, wrap it in plastic and lined with papel de japon(absorb moisture) or put moisture absorber(like those seen on food packages labeled DO NOT EAT) to prevent molds formation
you can have it dry cleaned when the lining is cotton or silk, a good leather conditioner is all you need, you can buy them at kenneth cole, bally, coach, LV etc they protects the leather from deteriorating

hanap nga siguro ako ng leather conditioner. mukhang good quality naman ung leather kasi given na 20 years na ayos pa rin ung leather, that is according to my eyes. hindi ko lang alam kung ganon ba talaga itsura non dati. hehehe. pero wala naman ako napansin na cracks. kaso made in china ung jacket.... any feedbacks sa mga china leathers? baka mamaya pagpahid ko ng conditioner biglang mag crack. hehehe.
