A funeral home in Quezon City was duped into accepting P80,000 in fake bills as payment for its services, radio DZMM reported Monday.

The management of the Arlington Memorial Chapel along G. Araneta Avenue said cashier Marites Tagarino received the fake bills from Larry Nocum, a relative of the deceased identified as Mercy Velasquez Cruz.

Arlington Funeral Director Bong Naviza said Tagarino was "hypnotized" by the suspect when she accepted the money.

The deceased was already buried when Arlington management found out that the bills were fake.
simple, since they were able to identify the source of the fake bills, ipa-police nila si Larry Nocum.

    80k. lots of money.

sa akin lang itong opinion na ito ha? well, 80k is 80k. pero in a business, talagang may risks, and these scenarios should help them improve on their processes, or the way how they handle money so that it will never happen again.

arlington is a big and established company na. i am sure they can cope up with the loss, but they have to improve or train their people on how to handle money next time so it will not happen again.

If you have a teller that's that suggestible, maybe you should tell her:

"You will work without pay... you will work without pay... you will work without pay..."

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

nakow! baka pekeng bangkay rin un nalibing ah! ipapahukay ko uli un, hehe

un pekeng pera ang papasweldo ko sa teller. :evillaugh:

seriously, maraming manloloko talaga, as usual, pero lack of security or flaw in their process ito. magtatanda na sila for sure. warning din for all of us.

kung panay fake pala ang ibabayad sa kanila, edi "patay" na ang negosyo nila nyan. beware of larry nocum - the "dead man" walking

Those detectors have UV light that shows security stamps on peso bills. May fake na din na bills with security stamps pero obvious pa na fake. AFAIK, kahit sa SM lang meron noon eh -- not sure lang if sa dept. store o sa National or other boutique.
