it's a normal occurrence here for a quick buck. they steal the side mirror, sell it for about P200 at banawe. we go to banawe and buy another one (which was probably stolen also from someone else) for P400. i've experienced it 3 times. just like stealing a cell phone.

Yup! They just take the mirror. The rest are answered above already. (naunahan ako! hehe)
Thieves steal the glass mirror and they sell them back to the market. Their customers are the ones who had thier side mirror stolen too. Bad trip diba?
Eto mejo OT:
A few years back, someone I know went to Banawe to buy some parts. Parked his car, purchased the things he needed and decided to get a little snack. After which, a peddler approched him selling "benz-plates" (aka euro plates). Looking at what the peddler has, he inocently said, "ganyan din yung sa akin ah!". The peddler replied, "so ano? sinasabi mo ba na ninakaw ko yan sa yo?!". The guy said, "sabi ko kapareho lang ng sa kin." The peddler left. By the time he reached his car, lo and behold, his euro plate got stolen.
Bad trip no?
