    you get bigger

NOW, when you are resistant to insulin, your body doesn't respond much to insulin

pag intake mo ng sugar/carbs your pancreas still makes insulin, but the sugar doesn't go into your cells as quickly or as efficiently as before (so blood sugar is stubbornly high even hours after meal)

it shows up in postprandial (2 hour blood sugar test after meal)

it shows up in FBS (8 to 10 hours after meal)

    that's insulin resistance

    thats what i also said....

    actually there's a question

if insulin resistance is so bad, why hasn't it been eliminated by natural selection?

    ganito:

the human race has been enduring bouts of starvation most of the time

it's only in the modern era that food is abundant 24/7

when humans were always starving, it is disadvantageous for survival if you're too sensitive to insulin

    you'll drop dead from hypoglycemia

so some insulin resistance is good for surviving starvation

kaya insulin resistance was a conserved trait passed down from our ancestors

now insulin resistance is bad coz we're no longer experiencing bouts of starvation

    food is available 24/7

our bodies didnt evolve to handle abundance

our bodies were evolved to handle scarcity

well, hindi baliktad pero its not totally true being insulin sensitive will make us fat..being insulin sensitive means your body is efficient in converting glucose into energy, less fat accumulation, btw another word for insulin resistance is metabolic damage..

well, we are going to agree on this:

excess glucose that isn't burned for energy is converted into fat for storage

and insulin is the hormone that makes that happen
