Imonitor mo upon waking yung hinid pa bumabangon tapos tanghali and evening temperature mo for metabolic function. Dapat warm ka.

    The Basal Temperature Test

First described by the great physician Broda Barnes in 1945, the basal temperature test provides an extremely valuable screening test for metabolic function. The idea is to obtain the temperature immediately on waking, when it reflects most accurately your body temperature at rest.

I think that the best thermometer to use is the old fashioned and perfectly good and accurate glass mercury thermometer. In this day and age, where time is at a premium, a reading from under the tongue is probably the most convenient. Dr Broda Barnes always recommended that the temperature should be taken under the armpit; you will probably find that the readings are a little lower than those under the tongue and you should make a degree allowance upwards if it is taken in the armpit. If you are using an electric thermometer, you should be aware that some will tend to under read in the armpit because they dont have time to warm up enough before the electronics make the reading. So use the under the tongue route if your thermometer is electric. The ear thermometers are quick, if rather expensive, and I am not convinced of their accuracy. Make sure the thermometer works properly; check it against another.

Three minutes in the mouth immediately on waking, before you get out of bed having shaken it down the night before, and made sure it really has zeroed. You dont necessarily have to read it straight away one may be a bit bleary first thing but when you do, write it all down there and then. Ideally I would like the basal temperature to be taken in the evening as well. A lowering of temperature during the day may indicate low adrenal reserve.

Make sure that you dont have a cold or flu coming on, or that you dont have a sore throat or sinus infection, or dental abscess all these things will raise your temperature and make the basal reading invalid. You will remember that if you are of the fair ***, you have a five or six day window from the beginning of your period each month in which to take your temperature, starting on day 2. Your normal basal temperature should be above 97.6? F / 36.8? C. The correct figures are 98.4? F or 37? C. Below the lower limit of the range, it is more than likely that you have a lowered metabolism due to hypothyroidism. The only other causes of temperatures below these limits are malnutrition, liver failure, hypothermia and alcoholism. If you have had a good drink the night before, discount your temperature in the morning.

Its useful at the same time to take your pulse as a base line, since on successful treatment a rise of pulse may be the first signal of success. It is well worth doing it for two or three weeks and averaging it all out.

of course you're warm! you and everyone else are warm-blooded!

    errr...
what is the point of all this?
ako nga, i wouldn't know what to do with all this information.
are you trying to determine her ovulation cycle?
    heh heh.

i know you're trying to help, but...
the more little knowledge is presented, the more the permutations (complications) arise...

That's exactly what SO has been asking me to do for several years but I refuse to do it. He thinks that could be the reason why I gained weight

Could it be related to your employer's announcement? I think you mentioned it a few days ago. I would be traumatised too if the germans fold.

Perform a bit of breathing exercise... might be a case of hyperventilation.

    Ano S.O.?

I think you have a thyroid problem. Wag kumain ng soy.

The best primary thyroid test eh temperature. Kulang yung blood test not complete and incomplete testing sa pinas.

Could be but I've had shortness of breath for months already. May times lang that it's worse

Ilang years na niya pinagagawa yan temp thing. Super health buff si SO, mukhang magkakasundo kayo. Food nila sa bahay ang hirap ng preparation like ex yung rice nila sprouted rice tapos they don't eat pork etc. It works though bec they all look young at magaganda katawan hehe

Majority of women have thyroid problem na.

10 Things I Wish My Endocrinologist Told Me

    - You are not going crazy! The anxiety, depression, irritability, mood swings, and emotional numbness you are feeling could be related to your thyroid. Thyroid antibodies are a marker that lets us know that the immune system is destroying thyroid tissue, which can cause a release of hormones into your bloodstream causing a transient hyperthyroidism and the related mood alterations, followed by an onset of hypothyroidism.

    - Selenium deficiency has been recognized as an environmental trigger for Hashimoto’s, so you may want to consider using a selenium supplement. A dose of 200 mcg of selenomethionine has been shown to reduce thyroid antibodies by about 50% over the course of three months in people with Hashimoto’s. In my experience, this can help people feel calmer and can also improve energy levels and hair regrowth.

    - Going gluten free is a strategy that everyone with Hashimoto’s should try. In some cases, we see a complete remission of the condition; in other cases (88% of the time), the person feels significantly better in terms of bloating, diarrhea, energy, weight, constipation, stomach pain, reflux, hair regrowth, and anxiety.

    - If you are having symptoms of subclinical hypothyroidism—like fatigue, weight gain, sadness/apathy, hair loss, fertility challenges, cold intolerance, brain fog, and joint pain—it may be helpful to start thyroid hormones.
Studies have found that starting thyroid hormones can make us feel better and even slow down the progression of the condition!

    - Some people may not convert thyroid hormones properly, and thus taking a T4-only containing medication like Synthroid or levothyroxine may not relieve all of your symptoms. There may be an advantage to taking a combination T4/T3 medication. Read about which thyroid medication is best.

    - Your thyroid may function and work on its own again at some time in the future. There is a test we can do to figure out if you can be weaned off from medications. Innovative new therapies like low level laser therapy may also help people improve the function of their thyroid and wean off meds!

    - Hashimoto’s and iodine deficiency hypothyroidism should be treated differently. Iodine excess may aggravate Hashimoto’s in some cases, leading to anxiety, irritability, brain fog, palpitations, and fatigue, as well as accelerated damage to the thyroid gland. For people with Hashimoto’s, the low doses of iodine that are found in multivitamins and prenatal vitamins (150 mcg–220 mcg) are generally safe.

    - Thyroid antibodies, thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO antibodies) and thyroglobulin antibodies (TG antibodies), are a marker of how aggressive the attack is on your thyroid gland and can be used as a marker to track your condition. You should retest your antibodies every 3 months to see if your lifestyle interventions are working.

    - Your hair loss could be caused by low ferritin. Ferritin is a stored form of iron that is often depleted in Hashimoto’s. (ito controversial ang supplemental iron supplements)

    - Your diet could be helpful in eliminating your thyroid symptoms, reducing thyroid antibodies and some people even have been able to eliminate their thyroid antibodies through diet alone!
    Dr. Izabella Wentz says

Anne- I’m very hesitant in recommending iodine in Hashimoto’s. Although iodine serves as fuel for our thyroid and is very important in iodine deficiency hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s is a different mechanism. It’s like pouring gas into an engine that’s on fire… that’s essentially what’s happening in Hashi’s, thyroid inflammation, and adding iodine to the mix before putting out the fire and fixing the engine may result in further damage to the thyroid. In those with a predisposition to autoimmunity, this has been documented time and time again, animal and human studies. I have spent 4 years researching this and have seen too many people suffering the consequences of adding iodine too soon. My approach is, let’s fix the engine first (usually a gut issue), and then add the fuel once we know that the engine is no longer on fire. Hope that you will check out my book. I have a whole chapter on the iodine controversy that references numerous studies as well as the work of Abraham and Brownstein.
