^^ kapag ang supply ng AC current ay fluctuating (like meralco) kailangan ng UPS para laging constant ang current supply nito pero kung ang appliances naman ay auto volt from 110v to 220v no need na

On a similar note, pwede ba gumamit ng portable generator power sa mga inverter ref and air-conditioning units? Sensitive ba eto?

I know tv and computers are a no no unless you have a true sine wave inverter generator. Unless you have a UPS backup

The gensets sold here have voltage regulators but i doubt if its clean sine wave generators since portable lang and less than 40t pesos.

Any inputs will be great since this month na simula ang brown outs of the aquino government. Like mother like son hehe
Bro,- Puwedeng gumamit ng conventional/portable gen sets for inverter type refs and AC units.... I am doing that.

Which reminds me to fire up my genset this weekend....

Ang mahal din ng large capacity UPS bro, hehe. Kaya balak namin tutal daytime lang naman ang brownout according to Sec. Petilla, mag-mall na lang or hotel. To be fair di naman kasalanan ng current admin yung shortfall sa power. It takes a long time to put up power plants. Si GMA ang hindi naghanda ng future capacity. Ok din lang ako sa ILP, yung mga komunistang nagpipicket lagi sa Mendiola na lang ang magtiis sa init at dilim kung gusto nila.

    DIESEL OR GASOLINE FED GENERATOR

    1. Can you pls share your opinion here what would be the pros and cons for each, aside from cost difference and noise level. Noise level is not an issue for me, and cost is a matter of upfront CAPEX (in favor of gasoline) vs regular fuel OPEX (in favor of diesel).

    2. Also, I can see some ads saying inverter type and non-inverter type generators - what does each mean?

    3. I need to provide for all lights, 2 LED TVS, 1 ref, 1 desktop PC and 2 electric fans. Is 6kw or 6 kVA more than enough?

    4. What is the difference between kW rating and kVA rating?

    5. What is the significance of single phase vs triple phase? What is suitable for home use?

    6. And what is the significance of power factor, is it relevant for home use?

    7. Can you recommend a good shop or seller for generator for home use?

Thanks for those who can help me understand.

Not to be rude, but you are asking a lot in one post. I suggest you google first, and ask here what you do not understand fro your own research.

I am willing to answer some of your questions based on my own googling but first, how much is your budget?

If I am correct, diesel gensets are more expensive than gasoline gensets. You can find diesel genset only from units with output of 3000watts up. Lower output gensets are gasoline fed.

Inverter- more expensive but also more efficient than common gensets.

6kva genset is more than enough for the specified appliances.

kw vs kva? Yan ang ndi ko alam. Hahaha
