These are the rare times na i'd wish si Erap gumagawa ng desisyon on what to do with these bandits. Exterminate!

well they did train to go to war. hindi na siguro dapat pa maghanap ng sisi sa mga peace talks, generals, politicians.

what happened there was they went in outnumbered. in fact even if the entire Philippine Armed Forces and the Philippine National Place went in to that territory like what the 50 marines did, ubos sila talaga. kahit tulungan pa sila ng 10,000 strong NPA, walang laban ang NPA sa MILF.

Tsk. It's really bad that our Marines cannot get air support or even fire support (artillery) when these things happen. The AFP has to act on this and get these rebels, otherwise their top brass will lose even more respect and credibility from their junior officers down to the ordinary private.

Wag nang napalm. Bring in a couple of helicopter gunships and a whole battalion of marines with M14's, M203's, LAWs and flamethrowers. We'll see just how tough these bastards are.

di po ako pabor sa napalm. alalahanin po natin ang ginawa ng US during the vietnam war, gumamit sila ng sangkatutak na napalm pero di nila natalo ang mga NVA at Vietcong. kung ang kalaban mo ay very fanatical at malakas ang suporta ng local populace, mahihirapan kang talunin ito. bukod sa napakaraming inosente ang mamamatay, sisirain din nito ang mga kagubatan at kalikasan. at hindi rin ito garantiya na mananalo ka sa giyera, halimbawa nga natin ang US during the Vietnam war at ngayong insurgency problem sa Iraq. tignan nga natin ang Iraq ngayon, despite the more than 130,000 US soldiers and marines deployed in Iraq with the support of great technology and overwhelming firepower, they still cannot defeat the ragtag army of al qaeda.

ayon po sa guerilla warfare doctrine, "it takes 10 regular soldiers to suppress one rebel/guerilla fighter." hindi po dahil sa mahina ang mga sundalo natin kaya kailangan ng sampung sundalo para mapigil ang isang rebelde, ito ay dahil mahirap hanapin at patayin ang mga rebelde who are very mobile, knows the terrain very well and has strong support of the local civilian population (in this case muslim civilians). in an insurgency such as ours, purely military action would not solve this problem, it should go hand-in-hand with economic development & empowerment plus social action and justice.
