brace yourselves for a new round of price increase.

world crude oil prices shot up after an Alaskan refinery shutdown because of a leak in one of its delivery pipes.

When I saw today's foreign news with the US oil pipeline being shutdown because of possible corrosion problems, I just thought gasoline prices will go up a few pesos by the middle of the month...

People over the pond are talking about $4 gas. It seems like we're seeing a possible rise to 50 peso gas within the next few months.

Let's see. Worst case scenario for me is four trips Laguna-Manila/Quezon City a week (320 kms, approx). At the start of the year, I could spend maybe 1250 in gas. Now it'd cost me 1450 or so. Interestingly, using regular gas would only save me 50 bucks!

At 50 pesos per liter, my cost would go up to 1600 per week. An increase of 350 pesos. Hwow... grabeh.

I wonder what the cost of living index will look like over the next few months. No more Starbucks/McDonald's for most people, I'd think.

    Yup... lifestyle change lang talaga.

I've already quit buying new car magazines, bring packed lunch to office, drive more economically (sticking to 100kph as much as possible; no jackrabbit starts), etc.

Haaay... if only my company was so quick to reimburse gas expenses...

*theveed: dapat magpasalamat sa akin ang TopGearPhilippines. I still buy the issue when it comes out, whatever my reservations about quality may be. That said, there are also some good things naman about TopGear, even among the local articles.
