sa kanya na uso ang Saudi.
he was the one who negotiated with the king of Saudi Arabia to hire Filipino contract workers during the mid-70's.

For those of you not old enough to remember or weren't
even born yet during Martial Law time, you should be
thankful to Blas "Ang Kulog ng Hagonoy" Ople.
He was the Secretary of Labor during the Martial Law
years and he was the one who pushed for the deployment
of Filipino Overseas Contract Workers in the early 70s to
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which at that time was experiencing
a construction boom as they suddenly found themselves awash
    in petrodollars.
As you all know, it is the remittances of the OFWs that has
kept this country afloat all these years and through all
these financial crises. Without OFW remittances, we could
have become another Cambodia or Laos or Burma.
Blas Ople HAD THE FORESIGHT. He practically invented OFWs.
    That will be his legacy.
Bet they didn't teach you that.
A lot of good things came about during Marcos' time because
his cabinet were composed of high-caliber intellectuals. Blas
Ople was one of them. Compare his caliber with the politicians
and government bureaucrats that we have now...
