November 18th, 2002 01:37 PM #42One flight I had in 1994 [August] was the most terrifying for me. Medyo umuulan at that time when we took off Manila. From the start, grabe na ang turbulance. Parang non-stop earthquake and you could really feel the plane drop several hundred feet na para bang nasa Ferris wheel ka. That was from Manila to Hawaii. But from Hawaii to SFO, minutes after take off, there was a loud explotion of some sort. I thought it was just something like a baggage underneath getting dislodged. So I went to sleep. Then I overheard the flight attendant saying "we'll be landing in few minutes". And I knew I did not sleep that long so I asked her if we're already close to San Francisco. Then she said "no sir, we're going back to Hawaii, one of the engines broke down". With 747s, it could have gone on but they just did not risk it. Some of us were transfered to UAL. And that was the best service I ever had. The worst I would say is with NWA.
A lot of people get annoyed with delays, but I'll rather be safe and alive than dead...

ayaw ko itong topic na ito, pero one time, nakasakay na din ako sa Fokker, Malaysian Airlines , from Labuan going to Kota Konabalu kasi naiwan ako nung last trip na ferry, natawa sa akin yung station manager kasi tinanong ko ang forecast ng weather, nahalata yata niya na alanganin akong sumakay, kakainis pa kasi dalawa lang kaming pasahero , ang ingay nga pala nito. Minsan naman , Egyptair, from Manila to Narita, turbulence na grabe, hindi nakapag serve ng meals, kasi almost three hours kaming naka strap ne seatbelt, panay lapit sa akin nung japanese stewardess, trying to calm me down (gf nung isang barkada na pinoy ), she had experienced worst turbukunce pa daw , pero kinabukasan, sabi ng barkada ko, according to his stewardess/syota, grabe daw pala yung na experience namin, ginawa lang daw niya yun kasi kita niya kulay suka na daw ako, dyahi

Nope. Takot ako sa mga small planes. Sa mga malalaki nga kinakabahan na ako eh.

ive never flewn on a fokker before. but having had a commercial pilot license before, i could say that a plane is a plane. the turbulence or pressure pockets can be felt from a small plane to a big plane. i would rather be in a smaller plane, because these planes would have a better chance of gliding compared to bigger plane due to its wing design. in short better "glideability". As per noise, well, it's a turbine prop plane, so it does generate too much noise compare to turbine jets due to its design.. IMO. try watching national geographic channel on their Air disaster series..cool show.
