Effin quake was so strong. Buti na lang nasa 3rd floor dorm ako at wala sa 6th floor lab hahaha

Aftershocks lasted literally for 24hours. As in buong araw umuuga.

Went home for a vacation because of the nuclear crisis. The city I lived in was a radiation hotspot - which is a puzzle to me because it is hundreds of kilometers away and the surrounding areas were not a hotspot.
Could be random fallout. My sensei said they found a hostspot in a Tokyo playground as late as January last year. When I also visited last year he gave me a list of grocery food to avoid for possible contamination.

Statistics show its not really any higher than previous years. Its just that people are now more aware (faster communication and better education).

According to reports. It is most likely cause by an underground landslide.
Obviously no one is expecting it as they are in concert mode. Rip to those 200+ people.

    Correct.
Some commentors are saying that they have no business of knowing that info since it does not concern them. Typical self centered attitude.

Izmir is near Antalya which is my favorite vacation spot in that part of the world. There is also a small US airbase there. I hope the Turks and the GIs are coping well. The photos look nasty.

It's not the first time with earthquakes there. I was at Turkey during the aftermath of the 1998 earthquake. That one was bad. This new one is worse. Actually, not long after I left (1999), Turkey got hit with another nasty earthquake. I came back again to the country towards the end of 1999. I kept missing the events and arrived during recovery.
