I spoke to my friend who lives in the US and told her that I have been mistaken for Latina several times, she reacted like it's so negative.

I know for a fact that in the attractiveness hierarchy, caucasians/white are on top but I don't know how Americans view Latinas/Hispanics? Also how does one define Latinas, Hispanics and Mexicans? I see a lot of Hispanics that you could mistake for pure Filipino kasi.
